My go-to lazy-girl hairstyle is now socially acceptable to wear outdoors. Celebrities have been wearing the hairdo to events, photoshoots, and even the Cannes Film Festival and all I want to say is, thank you! The no-effort half-bun half-ponytail is now considered chic and cool. But when I was throwing my hair back into the ‘do for a run to the grocery, it wasn’t.
I’m not bitter though. I’m relieved. Here’s how my favs are wearing it, and where.
Natasa: At The Airport
Nataša Stanković did away with the glamm on her way back to Mumbai. The model, after renewing her vows with Hardik in Udaipur, threw her hair into a lazy half-bun, half-ponytail at the airport. I’m not going to feel awkward wearing this at the airport anymore.
Kiara: For A Photoshoot
Kiara, on the other hand, turned the ‘do into something more aspirational. The newlywed wore this look to the sets of Bigg Boss 16 alongside Vicky Kaushal. Though Natasa paired it with a no makeup-makeup look, Kiara went all in with the glazed, dewy-dumpling vibe.
Deepika: To The Cannes Film Festival
At the Cannes Film Festival in 2022, Deepika Padukone put a spin on the hairstyle. The founder of 82°E styled it with the wet-hair look and tied it all together with a fierce blood-red lip. Talk about glamorous.
Kim K: To Fashion Week
Overseas, Kim Kardashian, our all-time favourite socialite, kept up with the trend too. She wore the half-n-half ‘do to New York Fashion Week last year.
How I Recreate It Within 2 Minutes
I run some of the St. Botanica Go Anti Frizz Hair Serum through my hair to settle frizz and flyaways and then pull all my hair back into a ponytail. On the last loop, I don’t pull my hair all the way through and just let it be.
These A-listers have made lazy and easy the new cool, and I love it. I know I’m wearing this hairstyle everywhere I go.
