7 Days, 7 Updos: Celebs Take On The Ultimate Summer Hairstyle

7 Days, 7 Updos: Celebs Take On The Ultimate Summer Hairstyle

As witnessed at the 2023 Oscars and repeatedly on celebrity Instagram handles this year, hair updos are back and bigger than ever. From quirky updos to chic and sleek buns, the possibilities are endless when it comes to hair buns, and celebs are making the most of it.

I put together some of the most stunning celeb-inspired hair updos trending RN and some ways in which you and I can easily recreate them at home. Read on!

Deepika’s Messy Top Knot

For the Oscars’ after party, Deepika traded her 1950’s inspired hair bun for a modern-day messy top knot and both hairstyles were utterly fabulous. It’s an easy style to rely on in case you cannot find time for a hair wash.

Simply work in a dry shampoo and tie a high ponytail. Wrap the ponytail around the hair band and secure it with bobby pins. Et voila. My go-to dry shampoo for refreshing my roots and adding volume is the Wella EIMI Dry Me Dry Shampoo.

Rihanna’s Looped Top Knots

Leave it to Rihanna to elevate the humble messy-hair top knot and make it look glamm. The key to acing this hairstyle is creating a high ponytail and then looping half of it at the base. Then, take the rest of the hair from the ponytail and tie it to the loop.

Finally, use that same section to create another loop. You don’t have to be neat with this, so have fun and let your hair texture shine. I would finish this hairstyle with a spritz of the Sebastian Professional Re-Shaper Strong Hold Hairspray.

Disha Patani’s Voluminous ’90s Updo

The bombshell made a case for the ’90s updo with a whole lot of gloss and volume. Leave out a chunky section of hair to frame your face and simply twist the rest of your hair up and secure it with a claw clip. Use a flat iron or a curling wand to style the front section.

Before heat styling the front section, I recommend using the Milkshake Lifestyling Thermo Protector Hair Spray to protect the hair from heat and add body.

Kylie Jenner’s Sculpted Hair Bun

Kylie has been promoting sculpted updos since last Fall and she even wore another beautiful rendition of it at the Oscars 2023 after party. This hairstyle is the perfect chance to style your hair when you’ve already applied some coconut oil on because look how shiny yet voluminous it is.

Create a deep side parting and use a hair donut at the crown to wrap your hair around it. Mould the front section into an S shape wave with your fingers and pin it at the side. I love using the Inde Wild Champi Hair Oil because it doesn’t make my hair greasy or sticky.

Kareena Kapoor Khan’s Sleek Bun

Bebo opted for a sleek low bun hairstyle to go with her pink saree this season and it was a classy move. Douse your hair with hair gel and comb it back. Tie a sleek low bun and conceal the edges with bobby pins. That’s all it takes.

I love using the Arata Hair Styling and Shaping Gel to get this sleek and glossy finish.

Vanessa Hudgens’ Wet-Look Hair Updo

Vanessa literally went for the wet hair look but made it sleek and textured at the same time. She has scrunched face framing pieces and a sleek low bun which features a chunky braid.

Secure your hair in a low ponytail and then create a braid. Wrap the braid around the base of the ponytail and secure with bobby pins. Pull out some face framing tendrils with the end of a rat tail comb and apply hair gel all over the hairstyle.

The Tangle Teezer Back-Combing Hairbrush – Pink Embrace is the perfect tool for hairstyling.

Kendall Jenner’s Wispy Updo

I loved Kendall’s effortless updo for the Vanity Fair party after the Oscars. It’s smooth, wispy, and oh so chic. Blow dry your hair smooth and create a centre parting. Twist the hair up and secure it with a hair band in a looped bun. Bring the ends to the front of the bun for more volume. Use the end of a rat tail comb to pull out wispy strands of hair.

A good hair mask will give me silky hair like Kendall, and I chose the MyGlamm SUPERFOODS Mangosteen & Avocado Hair Mask.

Make these celeb-inspired hair updos a part of your look this summer and you will be obsessed with the results. I’m definitely giving each of these hair updos a go this summer.
