How To Shape Your Eyebrows With A Face Razor

How To Shape Your Eyebrows With A Face Razor

Okay, I know that many of you are hesitant to change your ways when it comes to brow grooming. Threading prevails and it seems like it will never truly lose its hold on our generation. I used to have my eyebrows shaped with threading too and I began at a young age. My aunt was a beautician and I could trust that I am in good hands when it comes to shaping those arches. But when my aunt couldn’t get my brows threaded, I would be ridden with anxiety because I knew trusting someone else could be a bad decision especially since my brows are naturally thick and I never liked it when the salon lady would shape them super thin. Luckily, my aunt put me on face razors (or eyebrow blades) and I’ve been using that ever since. It’s pain-free and allows me to maintain my natural brow shape anytime, anywhere. I’ve been using eyebrow blades for over a decade now and there’s no turning back. It may seem scary to do your own brows at the start, but you will get used to it and find that it really is a great alternative.

What To Expect From Eyebrow Shaping With Face Razors?

Many feel that using a face razor blade or electric facial hair trimmer to shape your eyebrows will make them stubbly and that the finish isn’t clean. But that is a total myth and untrue! Yes, your hair might grow back quicker but you can always use the face razor or electric eyebrow trimmer whenever you want instead of planning and booking your next salon appointment in advance. It is very convenient and leaves no room for error by salon professionals who cannot seem to understand that you don’t want them shaped super thin. As for putting your own skills to the test, if you stick to your natural brow shape and only remove strands that are growing outside the shape will result in well-shaped brows every time. Let me take you through the process.

A Guide To Shaping Eyebrows With A Face Razor

Step 1: Clean Sweep

Before beginning the process, make sure the area is clean. Use a hydrating face wash to gently cleanse your face. Focus on your eyebrows while washing your face so as to remove any product buildup. Pat dry and brush your brows upwards and outwards with a spoolie brush.

Step 2: Power Of Powder

Applying a loose powder around your eyebrows will allow the razor to glide easily and not cause any skin irritation. Don’t use any minty talcum powder, instead opt for a baby powder or your loose translucent setting powder for this step.

Step 3: Hold That Taut

Before you run the blade over the skin, make sure to hold the area taut with the other hand. It’s similar to how your skin is held taut when waxing as you don’t want any tears or cuts to occur. Place two fingers at your temples and put pressure so that your skin is tight and ready. You can even cut a thin strip of body tape and use it to hold your skin taut.

Step 4: Glide Away

Glide the razor in the direction of your hair growth as it will prevent irritation. Focus on cleaning up only the stray strands and do not touch the areas where your brow hair is thick. Avoid using the blade on the tips of your brows which are at the temples.

Step 5: Dust It Off

Once done shaving, dust off the powder and the strands that have been removed. You can use any face brush you have to perform this step. Rinse your face and then apply aloe vera gel on and around your brows to soothe your skin.

Pro Tip: If you are struggling to stick to your brow shape, define your brow shape with an eyebrow pencil and then use the razor on strands that fall out of this defined shape.
