With the absolutely novel Very Peri as the Pantone colour, the year is sure to be dominated by dynamic hues. We specifically anticipate major changes in the bridal fashion scene and are all set to embrace some fresh colours. Ace couturier, Gaurav Gupta has aptly seized the mood of the season with his latest bridal couture collection. In the striking line-up of costumes, he has incorporated a statement palette that takes a sharp departure from colours traditionally associated with wedding fashion in India.
Gaurav presented his enviable bridal collection at the #ShaadiByMariott event that was recently held at The Westin Hyderabad following a day of merriment and celebrations at the grand property. And while we have always been in awe of his structured gowns and lehengas, it was an array of statement hues that left us truly smitten this time around.
Long things short, Gaurav with #ShaadiBymariott has totally set the mood for the upcoming shaadi season and here are five hues from the designer’s bridal couture collection that are sure to go big this year. Read on.
Bejewelled Blue
Gaurav has given us his take on the Pantone colour of the year with a rich, bejewelled navy blue lehenga that was worn by his showstopper, Tara Sutaria at the fashion show. We loved how the colour was further accentuated with peacock motifs done in silver and it is not hard to tell that gold might very well take a back seat this season.
Delicate Pinks
During the show, Gaurav also presented a line-up of pastel lehengas so subtly coloured that they can be easily mistaken for whites under certain lights. The real beauty of these soft pink lehengas lie in how the silver embroidery really pops out on them without looking garish.
Charming Mauve
If you are still eyeing all those viral lilac lehengas from last season, we have an update for you–the pastel hue has been replaced with its warmer cousin, mauve. The hue will go beautifully with Indian skin tones and is charming enough to make everyone do a double take.
Juicy Mulberry
For those looking for darker off-beat hues, Gaurav has also incorporated a sensuous mulberry in his bridal couture this season. With this shade, he has also given us a new version of the colour on colour trend that was hitherto dominated by reds. Gaurav’s mulberry offerings this season have been embellished with monotone beads and sequins and you’d also be able to spot hints of black in some garments.
Angelic Ivory
The white bride concept in India saw an impetus in 2020 with understated weddings and dulhans thus opting for more subtle outfits. However, Gaurav has now presented the colour in all its resplendent beauty complete with heavy silver adornments nicely accentuated with pearls. The ivory outfits from Gaurav’s bridal line this season hit you like a breath of fresh air and you can’t help but stay transfixed.
Lastly, if you have always envisioned your bridal look in red then by all means go for the classic hue that’ll, of course, never go out of fashion in India. That said, we do recommend that you play around a little bit and swap the basic golden embroidery with silver for a truly stellar look.
