Winter is here! And with it comes your fair share of skin problems – dry, itchy skin, patches, peeling and a host of other unmentionables. The most essential product in your handbag this winter should be a good moisturiser. But did you know dry skin-related problems are not the only ones that moisturiser tackles? Here are 4 cool ways your fav bottle of moisturiser can become your combatant of all kinds of problems!
1. Your Own DIY Bronzer
Want skin that glows like gold? You won’t believe how easy it is to make a bronzing lotion at home. Just mix cinnamon, cocoa powder and cornstarch with a moisturising lotion until you have a colour that is close to your skin tone. Swipe some on your hand to check if the colour works. Add cornstarch to lighten the mix or cocoa powder if you need a darker hue. Use the Vaseline Intensive Care Deep Restore lotion for amazing results!
2. Scrub Plus Moisturise At The Same Time!
Moisturisers make for great scrubs since they do not dry out the skin while exfoliating. If you’re looking to get rid of cellulite, you can mix coffee grinds with your moisturiser and apply over your body (this scrub might be too harsh for your face). Alternately, if you want glowing skin, mix a little honey with sugar granules in your scrub and use it to exfoliate your face.
3. Put A Ring On It… Or Don’t!
Got a ring that you grew out of and now its stuck on your finger? Hah! Been there! Stuck rings can be easy to get out of though. Slather moisturiser all over your finger and try and get it in between the ring and the finger as much as possible. Apply a little pressure when you pull on it and watch the ring glide off easily!
4. Nail Those Cuticles
Dry, brittle nails require cuticle oil but most products in the market cost a bomb and don’t do much good for your nails anyway. Here’s where your moisturiser steps in! Add 2-3 drops of almond oil to two teaspoons of your favourite moisturiser and mix well. Apply this all over your nail bed and massage gently. Remove any nail polish you are wearing and wash your hands before applying moisturiser so that it can penetrate your cuticles properly.
