Blush Draping Is The Hottest Contouring Trend Of 2023 & We’re Here For It!

Blush has considerably moved from the apples of the cheeks all the way to the nose and bone structure and we have to admit, we aren’t hating any of it. In 2023, we’re welcoming blush draping because it’s tipped to be huge this season.

Although it isn’t absolutely new, blush draping has been around for a while but it was mostly reserved for editorial purposes only. However, more and more beauty aficionados are taking to the ‘gram to post their favourite makeup hacks, this blush trend is found to be a universal favourite.

What Is Blush Draping?

Also known as contour blush, blush draping is a way to sculpt your visage with blooming pigment. It was first used in the ’70s by icons like Cher and saw a resurgence in the ’80s when blush was one of the most popularly used cosmetic products. The trend requires you to extend blush from your cheekbones all the way to your temples. This technique adds lift to your visage and gives a gorgeously flushed skin effect.

How To Experiment With It?

There are two ways you can go about it. The first is the basic way to hop on the trend and the second is how you can get experimental with it.

The Best Technique

In this video, the technique is tried and tested in the best way possible. Pick up some blush on your brush and apply it first to the outer side of your eyes so that that area has the most concentrated pigment. Then, blend the pigment to your cheekbones and to the temples in a C formation. That’s all there is to it.

When Eyeshadow Meets Blush

If you want to get experimental, try out sunset hues with this blush draping hack. Blend orange eyeshadow on your lids and extend it outwards. Then use a pink blush in C formation for a beautiful glow. Use a pigmented pink eyeshadow on your lower lash lines to tie the look together. As seen in this tutorial, you can also elevate your lids with gloss so that there is a subtle distinguishing factor there.

The Most Fabulous Results

Here’s what you can expect from trying out the blush draping hack.

Gradient Affair

Orange and pink ombre blush is complemented with a magenta pink eyeshadow on the lids and an orange shade in the crease.

Pink Glow

The draped pink pigment lifts and contours while a metallic champagne eyeshadow adds a pop of shine to the lids.

Peach Prerogative

Bronzed cheekbones are elevated with a peachy blush drape and the product is also used on the lids. Gold eyeshadow is smudged on the bottom lash lines for a sensational effect.

We’ve seen enough to make us want to adopt the trend ASAP. Will you be hopping on board as well?
