Diwali, Halloween, Christmas and New Year’s Eve: the season is in full swing. With my social calendar all filled up, it’s time to exaggerate my look with the help of metallics. With beautiful shades of golds and coppers, it’s time to get your glitter makeup on. It’s the only time of year when it’s not just acceptable but downright a must to rock some metal. Keeping this in mind, here are some of our favourite glitzy glam and metallic makeup products!
1. Look for Metallic Textures and Shades
Metallic always doesn’t mean colours, but textures and finishes. Opt for shades of red and burgundy in a metallic makeup finish. Not only are these colours considered classic but they also match most Indian ensembles.
Go all out: If you prefer to go over the top, opt for a shade of gold or glitter nail polish. You can either paint one tip gold or use a muted gold on all tips.
POPxo Recommends: Maybelline New York Color Show Glitter Glam Nail Lacquer – 604 Red Carpet (Rs 145) & Nykaa Gold Rush Nail Lacquer (Rs 249)
2. Ace the perfect shimmer smokey-eye
It’s no secret that eyeshadow palettes with shades of copper, cream and gold bring us a lot of joy. Opt for nudes and champagnes with shimmer for the inner corners of your eyes. Finish with darker shades like gold, blue or black when doing a smokey-eye look. Invest in a glitter makeup product that has a healthy mix of warm and cool shades and also a balance between matte and metal.
If you’re more into eyeliners, invest in metallic eye pencils. From icy greys to deep emerald greens, they’re all statement makers.
POPxo recommends: M.A.C Metallic Pro Pigment – Copper (Rs 2,200) is the perfect shade of rose gold and copper, Milani Everyday Eyes Powder Eyeshadow Collection – 08 Must Have Metallics (Rs 1,250) is versatile and has amazing shades to blend and play with, Faces Eye Pencil – Forest Green (Rs 314) is a lovely green shade that will compliment your jewel toned lehengas.
3. Take your nude lip up a notch
From deep red to gilded gold, metallic makeup products like lipsticks and lipglosses are in vogue. But if you are still a nude-loving gal, there’s a way for you to upgrade that look for the festive season! Look for pearl finish lipsticks or ones with micro-glitter. They glide on easy, keep your lips moisturised and give you a hint of shine. For the colour lovers, we suggest going for a matte or velvet finish lipstick as the colour tends to look richer.
POPxo Recommends: NYX Professional Makeup Cosmic Metals Lip Cream – Fuchsia Fusion (Rs 700) for all those Barbie lovers out there, you need this one & M.A.C Metallic Lipstick – In Lust (Rs 1,650) is the perfect party partner.
4. Contour like a pro!
Rosy cheeks with a touch of glitter can finish a high glam look, or add some warmth to a minimalist glitter makeup look. We suggest going for flesh tones so the glitter stands out and not the colour.
When we think metallic and glitter we think highlighter. Just pop on a highly pigmented highlighter on the cheekbones, nose and cupid’s bow for a dewy look. It’s a bonus if your highlighter palette has cool and warm tones so that it goes with any look you’re trying to achieve.
Ace the metallic makeup product look with a swipe of bronzer or a shimmer stick. Whether you like to look tanned or not a good brush of glitter bronzer can add that extra bit of flair to your overall look.
