Let’s admit it, it’s raining make-up these days. While the temptation to buy holiday edition eyeshadow palettes is very high, we need to be realistic about the looks that’ll actually suit us. There’s a reason why Deepika Padukone’s wing eye is on fleek, and that’s because it suits the natural shape of her eyes. We all have different shapes and what may suit your friend, may not suit you. This season, we give you a lowdown on multiple eye make-up styles and eye shapes they suit best.
1. For all eye shapes
No matter the occasion, a classic cateye suits almost all eye shapes. It makes large eyes look more defined and smaller eyes look elongated and wider. A jet black cat eye creates an illusion around the eye and can dramatically change the way your face looks.
POPxo recommends: Maybelline New York Colossal Kajal Super Black ( Rs 300)
2. For big eyes
A messy, smokey eye is perfect for large eyes as it makes them appear smaller. Since most large eye types also have a large lids, you can really play up the gradient from dark to light to make those eyes stand out.
POPxo recommends: Makeup Revolution Iconic Smokey Palette (Rs 1,080)
3. For deep set eyes
If you have deep set eyes, then it’s best to stay away from dark colours and go for bright luminescent shadows that lend a lifted look. Keeping the lid mono-toned, and highlighting the middle of your lid will make your eyes appear larger.
POPxo recommends: L’Oreal Paris Color Riche Gold La Palette (Rs 1,450)
4. For close set eyes
For you, it’s all about elongating and brightening the corner of your eyes. Winged eyeliner looks best on close set eyes. When it comes to shadows, make sure to apply a bright shade on the corner of your eyes to open them up. Darker shadows should be used on the outer corner shading outwards to elongate the shape of your eyes.
POPxo recommends: GlamGals Glide-On Eye Pencil – Gold (Rs 450)
5. For wide set eyes
If you have lovely wide set eyes, then you’re really lucky. As they say that those with these type of eyes have the most symmetrical faces and so, their features are very aesthetically pleasing. All you need for this shape is generously applied mascara and just the tiniest bit of eyeliner to add that definition. Keep that wide-eyed look fresh by going for neutral tones for a day look.
POPxo recommends: Maybelline New York Volum Express Hyper Curl Mascara (Rs. 325)
6. For almond shaped eyes
If you have almond shaped eyes, you can pretty much get away with any look. Our favourite is a dramatic kohl and smokey eye that looks fab with any formal occasion. Don’t forget to highlight that brow bone to really accentuate those perfectly shaped eyes. Also, you must carry an eyeliner in your bag at all times as this little product can turn up the drama in a jiffy.
POPxo recommends: Lakme Absolute Precision Liquid Liner (Rs 404)
7. For hooded eyes
If you have hooded eyes, then it’s best to go over the top with your makeup as your lid hides most of it. A good set of falsies along with some bold eyeshadow will really make those peepers shine. Also, since your brow tends to be more prominent with these type of eyes, it’s best to keep those brows groomed.
POPxo recommends: NYX Professional Makeup 3-In-1 Brow Pencil – Black (Rs 1,000)
