King Charles III and Queen Camilla are all set for a grand celebration to inherit the royal crown. The coronation ceremony will take place on May 6th in Westminster Abbey and Sonam Kapoor has also been invited to the event. She will be delivering an exclusive word piece at the coronation ceremony and fans are eagerly waiting to watch the inside snippets. But did you know that she was not the first choice for the grand royal event? Here’s a list of celebrity performers who were requested to perform at the coronation before Sonam said “yes”:
The Spice Girls
Remember the iconic moment when Geri Halliwell from The Spice Girls planted a kiss on Prince Charles’ cheeks at the Trust dinner, back in 1977? Yea, looks like they don’t want any of this drama anymore. They have anyway disbanded and not ready to make an exception for the coronation ceremony.
Adele
Adele has also decided to pass on the King’s coronation. While the reason remains unclear, an insider revealed that she is currently focusing on telling stories to people through her songs instead of performing at fancy events.
Sir Elton John
Elton John’s friendship with the Royals goes way back. He was a part of Prince William and Princess Kate’s 2011 wedding and even performed during Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan’s 2018 wedding. However, due to scheduling conflicts, he has refused to attend the coronation ceremony.
Harry Styles
After refusing to perform at the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee last year, the As It Was singer declined the invitation to join the grand gala. His team hasn’t quoted any reasons.
Robbie Williams
The Candy singer who’s also a close friend of the royal family shared a deep bond with Queen Elizabeth. He was shaken by her death and shared a heartwarming goodbye note for her on the ‘Gram. But due to unknown reasons, he decided to say ‘no thanks’ to the royal invite.
Kylie Minogue
Kylie has been an outspoken fan of the Royal Family and an honorary Britisher for years. After saying ‘yes’ to the coronation invitation a few weeks ago, Kylie decided to turn it down cuz she’d be travelling around that time.
