I’m a hardcore Bollywood fan and that often means revisiting old B-town films. Sometimes, I strike a goldmine and discover a hidden gem. Other times, I stumble upon weird films with shocking scenes that make me cringe really hard. So, are you curious to find out which Bollywood movies I’m talking about? Scroll down to find out:
Absolutely, Not!
Tumsa Nahin Dekha: A Love Story is a 2004 film that people remember but not for good reason. It has a stale love story and rehashed plot that is not really worth watching. However, the most disturbing part of the movie is that the protagonist, Daksh Mittal played by Emraan Hashmi forcefully kisses actress Dia Mirza. Honestly, when will Bollywood films learn about consent?
Size Doesn’t Matter
Bollywood films and fat-shaming have a long-standing relationship that I never really understood. Although things are beginning to change, there was a time where several films used plus-size people for comedic relief. Take Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham for instance. Younger Rohan was constantly made fun of for his weight. He was teased not only by his brother and caretaker, but also by his friends. In fact, throughout the film they kept calling names like “motu”, “kaddu”, and “ladoo”. Well, was that cool? Absolutely not. How about cringe? 100x yes!
Someone Slap Him Back!
The 2019 film Kabir Singh was problematic for several reasons. However, one scene from the movie that still haunts me is when Kabir slaps Preeti, the woman he loves, for no apparent reason. To give you some context, Preeti’s father opposes Kabir and his daughter’s relationship after seeing them kiss before marriage. And instead of talking it out like an adult with his ladylove, Kabir gives Preeti an ultimatum. He asks Preeti to either convince her father in the next six hours or forget about him. But wait, that’s not the worse part! While Preeti continues to beg him to not complicate things, he slaps her. The sheer audacity!
No Class
If you’re ever in need of some laughs, watch this hilarious hindi movie from the ‘90s, called Mother. Besides the WTF plot, there are several scenes in the film that will make you LOL. However, this particular scene definitely takes the cake for being the most cringy. In this clip, the protagonist Raj, calls his love interest Jia, just to remind her of her aukat. During the entire scene, he uses the word “class” way too often. And honestly, I can’t watch this clip without feeling second-hand embarrassment. Here, take a look:

Stalking Normalised
Tere Naam won Salman Khan several accolades for his acting performance in the film. But honestly, his role as Radhe bhaiya aka the obsessive lover, is one we don’t need in our lives. The movie not only normalises stalking in the name of love but Radhe also pushes all boundaries as he chases Nirjara (Bhumika Chawla) down the streets, and even kidnaps and then threatens her to express his feelings. But the worst part? In the end, the girl finds the goodness in him and falls for him. TBH, what world are we living in?
Well, which Bollywood scene made your skin crawl the most?
