How far would you go to surprise the love of your life on your big day? We all plan something special for our better halves but Elizabeth Shoesmith topped us all with her magical performance. Australian bride Elizabeth honoured her deaf husband on their big day in an extremely special way. She decided to drop the traditional walk down the aisle and instead performed an entire song in sign language dedicating it to her husband. She chose Christina Perri’s ‘A Thousand Years’ and it took her months to learn the lyrics in sign language.
“Every time I had practised it leading up to the day I would make mistakes or go blank, but when my son left me at the top of the aisle, I locked eyes with Scott and didn’t look away. I honestly felt like we were the only ones in the room,” shared Elizabeth in an interview with a leading International website.
“Even though Scott is deaf, I have never felt more heard in my life. For every joy he has brought into my life over the last two years, I wanted to surprise him with my entrance. I won’t lie, I was terrified before walking into the ceremony, but the moment I locked eyes with him I never looked away and it was a special moment just between the two of us. He held it together for a few seconds before crying the whole way through the song. This is how I chose to honour my deaf husband at our wedding ceremony. It was a magical moment and neither of us will ever forget,” she further added.
