Alia Bhatt is currently riding a career high, and it won’t be long before she becomes a global icon. After making her Met Gala debut, the actress has now become the first Indian global brand ambassador for Gucci. She attended the Gucci Cruise 2024 show at Seoul’s Gyeongbokgung Palace in the cutest outfit. While her cutout black dress is unlike anything we’ve seen before, it is actually her bag that has caused quite a stir.
Alia wore a mini dress from the brand’s FW2023 collection over a pale pink slip. She accessorised it with a transparent handbag. As soon as the images went viral, netizens were quick to mock the actress for carrying an “empty bag.” But little do they know this is a historic piece from Gucci’s 1961 collection known as the “Gucci Jackie 1961 transparent bag.”
The iconic Gucci handbag is known for its half-moon shape and sleek piston hardware. While Alia opted for a transparent mini bag, the Jackie 1961 is recreated with a new twist in the brand’s current collection, which includes a variety of sizes, colours, and materials. It takes shape to resemble the original design from the 1960s. So, indeed, this bag was created more than sixty years ago!
While the internet is mocking the actress for carrying an “empty bag,” being able to only carry this bag will leave many people’s bank accounts empty! The transparent bag costs a whopping $2950, which is nearly Rs. 2.5 lakhs! Perhaps the trolls should do some research before they start with their attacks.
It is a moment of great pride for Indians when a desi actor globally represents the country while dressed in the most iconic creations. You go, Alia!
