If you are a Bollywood junkie, you’d know that some family trees in the industry are as complex as it gets. Started by big stars, these Bolly clans are flourishing with multiple generations working in the film industry. However, there are some people from these influential filmy families that find their solace in totally different professions. That’s exactly what happened with Alia Bhatt‘s lesser-known cousin, Ssmilly Suri!
Born in 1983, Ssmilly comes from the Bhatt-Suri clan of Bollywood. She is the eldest sister of renowned singer Mohit Suri and niece of filmmakers Mahesh Bhatt and Mukesh Bhatt. Actresses Pooja Bhatt and Alia Bhatt are her cousins. Emraan Hashmi is also Ssmilly’s distant cousin. Interestingly, just like her cousins, Ssmilly too tried her hands in acting but quit it soon after. Scroll down to find out why:
Ssmilly’s Bollywood Journey!
Ssmilly Suri began her acting career alongside Kunal Khemu with Mohit Suri’s 2005 directorial, Kalyug. Thanks to its wonderful plot and soulful music, the movie was a Blockbuster.
She then appeared in a cameo in Teesri Aankh, which starred Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel. Two years later, she did another film, Yeh Mera India. Her last appearance as an actor before quitting the film fraternity was for a supporting role in Mohit’s film Crook. In 2013, Ssmilly even tried her hands on TV and played a supporting character in Jodha Akbar. Simultaneously, she also worked as a model for a couple of years. The actress got married to choreographer Vineet Bangera in 2014, but their marriage was short-lived and the two got separated in 2016.
Where Is She Now?
After bidding adieus to her acting career, Ssmilly turned into a professional dancer and fitness enthusiast. She is a trained Kathak dancer and was also a part of Shiamak Davar’s troupe. In the mid-2010s, she learned pole dancing as a fitness activity and eventually started doing it professionally. She is now a professional pole dance trainer and keeps posting her stunning dance videos on social media.
