Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani is on everyone’s mind currently! On the occasion of completing 25 years in the industry, Karan Johar truly gave us one delicious mithai ka dabba. Apart from being the much-anticipated Bollywood rom-com, the film has been capturing hearts due to Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh‘s sizzling chemistry! The duo made us fall in love with love and Rocky and Rani. The movie ends with the two getting married in a grand location and turns out the sequence was shot right after Alia Bhatt’s real wedding!
On August 3, Dharma released the film’s single Kudmayi, which highlights the lovely wedding montage. Alia looks lovely in the film, wearing a regal gold lehenga and elaborate jewellery, in contrast to her actual wedding. Alia, who got married on April 14, 2022, filmed this scene barely four days later. The shoot was so close to her wedding that her mehendi in the film is her actual shaadi mehendi! Now, in a recent interview, the actress compared her real wedding to the reel one and pointed out the similarities and differences.
Alia stated that since her wedding was so recent in her memory, she remembered all of the rituals vividly and even pointed out the pandit’s mistake while filming. When Rocky and Rani were taking their pheras, the pandit claimed that the boy would now be in front. Alia, on the other hand, corrected him, telling him that the girl should be in the front and that she had just completed the rituals four days before! While she claimed that both weddings were completely different, one thing they had in common was that Rocky kneeled down so that Rani could put on the varmala, and Ranbir did the same IRL! Adorable, right?
The actress also pointed out the difference in her costume and her actual shaadi outfit. She stated that her real wedding outfit was so light and simple. She was wearing an ivory and gold Sabyasachi saree that was minimalistic yet elegant. It allowed her to roam around freely and be comfortable. Her movie costume, on the other hand, was a super heavy lehenga that came with a heavy dupatta. Alia recalled struggling in the reel wedding outfit, unlike her actual one!
