Aishwarya Rai Bachchan Likes This Food Ingredient; But Not For Salads Or Sandwiches

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in Dhoom 2 was a sight to behold. While I gushed over her Barbie Doll-like features, I was more taken by her lustrous, thick waves in Crazy Kiya Re. Things haven’t changed in that department for Aish even now. And I wondered how. Since I wanted in on her secret, I played stalker and dug a little deeper.

That’s when I found it. Bachachan’s go-to hair-mask ingredient: mayonnaise. Though I’ve been cautioned against the smell and feel of mayo on the hair, if it guarantees long, luscious hair like Aishwarya’s, that’s the last thing I’m concerned about. But before that, here’s why it helps the hair.

For Quicker Hair Growth

Mayonnaise brims with eggs; which brim with amino acids. These are proven to enhance the growth of your hair over time. One such example is L-cysteine. It strengthens and thickens your follicles for better growth.

For Deep Hydration

Thanks to mayo’s content of fatty and amino acids, it deeply conditions the hair and reinstates the mane’s softness and suppleness. It contains canola and soybean oils, egg, vinegar, and lemon as well; all of which relieve dryness by hydrating and nourishing each strand.

For Fighting Dandruff

It can fight bacteria in your scalp too; thereby getting rid of dandruff and other scalp-related infections that can damage your hair and cause breakage.

For Stronger Strands

Vinegar is yet another component you’ll find in mayo. This ingredient is believed to balance the pH levels of your skin; specifically by lowering it to add a shine to the mane and strengthen the hair. It can relieve itchiness and discomfort too.

For Killing Lice

Mayo’s thick, creamy consistency suffocates lice. The acidity kills off any eggs as well.

How To Use Mayo As A Hair Mask

All you have to do is set aside a cup of mayo, wash your hair, and get to work. Apply the mayo all over — starting from the scalp and working your way to the tips. Comb through your strands to distribute the product evenly throughout the hair. Turn up the heat in your shower or put on a shower cap to allow better penetration of the mask in the scalp and strands. Wait for 20 minutes before washing it off with shampoo and conditioner.

That’s it. It’s time to clip my nose and dive in.
