The talk around nepotism has struck a nerve in Bollywood, leaving many at polar ends. This is because some star kids continue to push it under the rug and say they’ve “struggled”, while others come out of the woodwork and just own the nepotism tag. One such actor is Ahan Shetty and his comments on nepotism have left us speechless!
The male debutant winner at International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) recently spoke to a leading daily about being a product of nepotism. The Tadap actor said, “When it comes to nepotism, I accept it. I am a product of nepotism. My father is an actor, I did want to become an actor, and yes we do have it easier. I am not going to deny that at all. But at the end of the day, everyone has to work hard.”
Ahan added that while he has had it easier, hard work is inevitable. “To be in this industry especially you have to work really hard. I am very very happy and honoured to be a part of this industry, and I don’t wanna take advantage of it. So I am just gonna work hard and keep my head down.” It’s refreshing to finally see a star kid who isn’t afraid to admit that he’s privileged while being ultra humble about it!
Apart from talking about the nepotism debate, Ahan spoke about how parents Suniel Shetty and Mala Shetty were proud of his win at IIFA. He said, “My dad was standing right next to me, I could see he was already teary-eyed. And before my name was called, my mom just squeezed me. They were very happy, and I hope I made them proud.”
We’re always delighted to see Ahan on the big screen and can’t wait for his next release. Here’s wishing the actor a truck load of luck for all his upcoming projects!
