Like any other profession, being an actor also comes with struggles. For some, it might be easier to get good opportunities, for others it is always a constant fight. Moreover, actors also often get replaced. Sometimes it’s during the start of the project, other times it could be halfway through the shoot.

Priyanka Chopra
Priyanka Chopra took the internet by storm after she disclosed the real reason behind her leaving Bollywood. And years before this, she even opened up about getting replaced in a film. PC once revealed that “I have been replaced and it has happened twice. I have had situations where I have been thrown out of films because someone else was recommended. A girlfriend was recommended after I was signed for a movie. So, that’s an abuse of power, girlfriend of the hero, or girlfriend of the director.”
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan
Aishwarya Rai is the epitome of beauty and grace. While many look up to her in the industry, there was also a time when Aish got replaced in movies. She was replaced in Chalte Chalte and that created quite a stir. According to the grapevine, Aish’s then-boyfriend, Salman Khan created quite a nuisance on the sets. SRK and the makers got fed up with this and decided to replace Aish with Rani Mukherjee in the film.
Radhika Apte
Radhika Apte was selected to play the female lead in Vicky Donor but later got replaced. Radhika shared that the makers wanted her to lose some kilos as they had a particular weight in mind for the lead. She even promised them to do so, however, they decided to rope in Yami Gautam instead.
Taapsee Pannu
Taapsee Pannu has been winning hearts with her acting talent in movies like Manmarziyan and Haseen Dillruba. However, she once revealed how she was replaced in a movie. She shared, “Faced some really weird things in the beginning like she isn’t pretty enough. I’ve been replaced because the hero’s wife didn’t want me to be part of the film. I was dubbing for one of my films and I was told that the hero didn’t like my dialogue so I should change it. When I refused to change it, they got a dubbing artiste to do it behind my back”
Arjun Kapoor
Originally, Arjun Kapoor was supposed to play the lead role of Kabir in the movie Kabir Singh. However, the film’s director, Sandeep Reddy Vagha wanted to cast Shahid for the role as he has met the actor before and thought he was the right fit.
Kareena Kapoor Khan
Kal Ho Na Ho has given us some of the most unforgettable characters. And one of them is Naina, played by Preity Zinta. But it was Kareena Kapoor and not Preity, who was Karan Johar’s first choice to play Naina. However, Karan decided to go with Preity when Kareena demanded a hefty fee for the role.
Abhishek Bachchan
Even Abhishek Bachchan has been replaced in a movie once. He revealed how no one even informed him about this and it turned out to be super awkward. He shared, “I’ve been replaced in films. I’ve been replaced in films and not been told. And I’ve literally shown up at the shooting and somebody else is shooting there. And you had to just quietly turn around and walk away.”
Katrina Kaif
Katrina Kaif is one of Bollywood’s top stars. But there was a time when Katrina was replaced in a film after just one shot. She revealed, “I got thrown out, not thrown out, let’s say replaced in a film called Saaya which was an Anurag Basu film with John Abraham and Tara Sharma. After shooting one shot, not one day but just one shot. At that time I thought my life was over. I thought my career was over.”
Harshvardhan Kapoor
Did you know Andhadhun was first offered to Harshvradhan Kapoor and not Ayushmann Khurrana? He was replaced due to creative differences. Apparently, the director, Sriram wanted Harshvardhan to attend a workshop but the actor refused to do so.
Well, some of these reasons were quite shocking and not fair, right?
