From the moment Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan’s courtship rumours were confirmed, the world became obsessed with them. It was a perfect match! But do you know their journey to shaadi was full of interesting twists and turns? In fact, even their roka was ‘weird’ for Aishwarya.
In an interview, Aishwarya shared that only after Abhishek’s proposal, she got to know about the roka ceremony. Being from Karnataka, she had no idea what to expect. The actress said, “Suddenly, there is a call from their house (Bachchan family) to ours that “We’re coming” and my dad was out of town. I was like… this ‘roka’ is happening. Mum is here and we’re here and they (Abhishek, Jaya and Amitabh Bachcha) have all arrived at home, and they are emotional. And I’m like “Oh my God! It’s happening.”
“And then it’s like “Come on, let’s go home.” Is this an engagement? Like… what just happened?” added Aishwarya. The next day after the roka, the actress returned to the sets of Jodha Akbar where she was playing the role of a new bride. “It was really really weird,” concluded Aish.
Well, it was surely a surprise roka for Aishwarya but perhaps, the Bachchans were just too excited about their bahu. Who can even blame them for being so excited?
Over the years, both Jaya and Amitabh Bachchan have praised Aishwarya for being the perfect daughter-in-law. It is hard to believe it has been over 15 years since this golden couple got hitched. Aishwarya and Abhishek have just raised our bar for the perfect marriage!
