The suspense has finally come to an end! Days after speculation over who will be playing the iconic role of Komolika in Ekta Kapoor’s hit television drama, Kasautii Zindagii Kay, we finally have a name! Actor Aamna Sharif will be replacing Hina Khan and we can’t contain our excitement.
Though this is not Aamna’s first association with Balaji it is the first time that she will be essaying a negative role. Aamna, who is a well-known face in the entertainment industry wast last seen on TV in Life OK’s Ek Thhi Naayka and will be making a comeback on the small screen after a gap of six years. She last worked with TV czarina Ekta Kapoor in Kahiin To Hoga, where she played the role of a fragile and righteous Kashish, opposite actor Rajeev Khandelwal. Aamna even featured in 2014 film Ek Villain, opposite Ritiesh Deshmukh.
In an interview to a leading news publication, Aamna confirmed her participation in Kasautii Zindagii Kay 2 as the new Komolika. And just like us, she also couldn’t stop but express her excitement over playing a negative role for the very first time. “The reason for the break was the need to reinvent my personal life. It would have been easy to stay in my comfort zone and come back with a love story, but that wouldn’t have satiated me as an actor. It’s always a different kind of rush to surprise your audience. So, when I was offered the role of Komolika, I instinctively knew that this is what will challenge me the most as an actor”, said Aamna.
Just yesterday, Ekta Kapoor posted a video of Hina Khan’s entry as Komolika and wrote that she will miss the actress. Hina Khan retweeted Ekta’s post, thanking and praising her for being as big-hearted as she is. “Only positive, content and happy people like you can see positivity and feel Happy about other people’s growth and successes. When an actor leaves a character and tries to make their dreams come true (sic)”, wrote Hina.
