There’s no greater heartache than watching the love story of our favourite telly couples fall apart. After 9 years of marriage, TV stars Aamir Ali and Sanjeeda Shaikh recently announced that they are filing for divorce and we are still unable to wrap our heads around it. The two had been living separately for a while and eventually decided to call off their marriage.
NGL, this announcement has certainly left us in shock as Aamir and Sanjeeda were one of the most-loved telly couples! The two started off as friends and just in a few months, they fell head-over-heels in love with each other. After seven years of courtship, Aamir and Sanjeeda had their ‘qubool hai‘ moment in 2012.
Recently, in an interview, Aamir and Sanjeeda got real about their decision to get divorced and how they plan to raise their 2-year-old daughter, Arya Ali. The Dilli Wali Thakur Gurls actor said, “I would not want to comment on any news that is out. I just want to keep it simple and clean. I only wish well for Sanjeeda and my little one.”
Meanwhile, Sanjeeda shared, “I would not want to comment on this. I am just focusing on making my child feel proud of my work and that will happen soon.”
Back in 2020, a little birdie told us that the former couple tried to work on their relationship but things didn’t work out. A source close to the two stars said, “Differences started cropping up between them some time ago, but they were trying their best to not let it hamper their relationship. Matters escalated a few days after Sanjeeda returned from a shoot in London in October last year (2019), and she left for her parental home. Though they continued to be in touch for some time after that, they stopped talking to each other over a month ago.”
According to the grapevine, Aamir and Sanjeeda‘s divorce papers came through 9 months ago and since then they have been focused on their separate lives. The two have allegedly opted for shared custody of their daughter.
While we wish things were different, we are proud of Sanjeeda and Aamir for being so respectful towards each other. All the best, you two!
