This Bollywood Actress Gets Real About Fans Touching Celebs Without Consent

Whenever fans meet their idols, it is pretty obvious that they want a token of their experience. While some like to click pictures with the stars, others are happy to get their autographs. Most celebs are more than pleased to make their fans happy. But what happens when your admirer crosses a line?

Recently, actress Aahana Kumra had an awkward moment on a red carpet when she was posing with a fan. The man in question tried to get close to the her for a photo and put his hand on her waist. The actress was unexpectedly uncomfortable with the situation and told the fan, “Don’t touch me.” Scroll down for the video:

Aahana appeared visibly uncomfortable with how her fan crossed a line with her. As a woman, it is heartbreaking to see how we still have to fight to set our boundaries. Even when you have the privilege of being a film star.

In an interview, Aahana opened up about the incident and said, “I agreed for a picture but I was like, ‘Sorry, you can’t touch me’. It was kind of weird. Being public figures who have our lives out in the open on social media, people think we are so accessible, as they see us almost every day.”

Aahana added that fans think that they know their favourite stars as they watch them on social media. However, the celebs don’t know them. “I feel like there has to be a boundary maintained,” said the Lipstick Under My Burkha actress.

Let’s get one thing clear—public figures are not public property. They are human beings who have personal boundaries that should be respected.

TBH, while it is an amazing experience to meet your favourite star, they should also feel comfortable around you. So, I am proud of Aahana for speaking up and not letting her discomfort slide.
