7 Best K-Dramas To Add To Your Watch List

I got sucked into the incredible world of K-dramas last year when I started watching the much-hyped Squid Game. After watching a couple of more Korean shows, I had realised a few things. One, Kimchi and skincare aren’t Korea’s best offerings. K-dramas are! Two, the twists in the Korean plots can put even the best Abbas-Mustan thrillers to shame. And third, the best way to enjoy a Korean drama is to watch it in Hindi. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. Now that I’ve got you all excited, bookmark these 7 best K-dramas for a week full of entertainment:

Oh My Ghost (2015)

Twitter

I really thought K-dramas are intense before I watched Oh My Ghost. A talented but timid chef Na Bong-sun (Park Bo-young), is possessed by a sassy, “virgin” ghost, keen on losing her virginity to move on to a peaceful afterlife. Bing-sun then transforms into a confident girl and catches the attention of her longtime crush and culinary bigshot, Kang Sun-woo (Jo Jung-suk).

Itaewon Class (2020)

Twitter

This K-drama is a mix of romance, revenge, and rebellion—without going to extremes. Park Sae-ro-yi (Park Seo-Joon) opens a bar in Seoul’s Itaewon district after returning from prison for beating a man he blames for his father’s death. He uses this place to plot revenge against his father’s killers and makes friends with a group of adorable misfits ready to help him execute his plans.

Squid Game (2021)

Twitter

I broke my K-drama virginity with Squid Games and it is still my favourite Korean drama of all time. Hundreds of financially distressed people are tempted to enter into a secret game contest after being offered a ridiculous amount of winning prize money. However, the consequences of losing in this seemingly-childish game are deadly.

Yoon Hye Jin ((Shin Mina) is a successful 30-something dentist practising in Seoul. However, she is forced to open a clinic in the small village of Gongjin after an ugly fallout with a senior dentist, who makes sure that she doesn’t get a job in the city. After finding it hard to adjust to the small town, she falls in love with a simple, helpful handyman Hong Du Sik (Kim Seon Ho) and his chosen family, i.e., the residents of Gongjin.

All of Us Are Dead (2022)

Twitter

Hell breaks loose when a failed science experiment at Hyosan High School leads to a zombie virus outbreak. The children trapped inside must unite to escape or they would get infected and turn into human-eating zombies. This Korean drama is definitely going to keep you on the edge of your seat, I promise.

Business Proposal (2022)

Twitter

This is one of the best K-dramas for all the romantics out there. Shin Ha-ri (Kim Sejeong) agrees to be her BFF’s proxy on a blind date. Little does she know that her BFF’s prospective match is her own boss Kang Tae Moo (Ahn Hyo-seop), who agrees to see girls only to please his grandfather. Upon learning that Shin is his employee, he offers to pay her for pretending to be his fiance. But predictably, they fall in love.
