Here’s A Peek Into The Beauty Trends That Defined 2022 & Will Be A Hit In 2023 Too

I’m always more interested to hear about makeup trends, even if the New Year brings a plethora of trend predictions. No matter what the newest trend is, I’ll always be the first to embrace it since I’m a real beauty lassie at heart. Without a doubt, 2022 was a great year for anything related to makeup. After all, it was the first year we started to take off our masks and reintegrate into society, and that meant there were a bunch of different makeup looks. Face gems, extremely glossy lips, siren eyes, and other trends came into popularity.

Because the 1990s are back with stunning gothic looks, supermodel-inspired makeup, and extra-lined lips, expect the beauty trends to get even better in 2023. Sincere to say, a few 2022 beauty trends will still be popular in 2023. Find out which one will be popular next year.

2022 Beauty Trends That Will Continue To Be A Huge Hit In 2023

Copper Hair Trend

Copper hair emerged as the most talked-about hair colour of 2022, proving to be another big-hitter that has been around for a while but isn’t going anywhere. The strawberry and spice tones attract fans among celebrities like Zendaya, Kendall Jenner, Keke Palmer, Sydney Sweeney, and Nicola Coughlan and provide a more opulent dimension and appeal to hair.

Slugging

There is no way that you could have missed this year’s slugging craze on Instagram. Slugging is the practise of coating your face in Vaseline or other petroleum-based treatments before bed and after your regular evening skincare routine. It was invented by K-Beauty, became popular on Reddit, and went viral throughout social media. This forms an “occlusive” protective barrier that stops nighttime water loss from your skin. It’s a contentious one, with some people insisting that it plugs pores and others praising it as the key to their glossy skin.

Goth Glamm

The grunge makeup look was resurfacing even before Wednesday Addams came to our screens and offered us major goth-glam inspiration (reference: rockstar boyfriend). The number of people searching for “Avril Lavigne makeup” has grown and risen by 39% over the past year. We’re lusting over thick, smudged liners, faux freckles, and darker, richer lip shades. The good news is that we now know exactly which lip shades Jenna Ortega’s makeup artist used to create her Wednesday look.

Brow Lamination

Even if brow lamination is nothing new, more and more of us are interested in keeping full, fluffy brows in place. Over the past year, the trend has received over 1.3 billion hits. It entails brushing brows up and into the shape you choose, then setting them semi-permanently (for around 6–8 weeks) so you may skip shaping them every morning. Think of it as the reverse of getting your brows permed.

Graphic Eyeliner

One significant trend that emerged throughout the whole year was the graphic eyeliner trend. From the double wing at Chanel to the triple-up floating liner at Giambattista Valli, the graphic black liner was all the rage in 2022 and is expected to be a significant trend for spring/summer.

Will you try out these trends in 2023?
