Whenever news of a Bollywood divorce breaks, people are quick to jump to conclusions—maybe it was infidelity, perhaps the woman took the man for granted, and so on. Whether a couple separates after just a few years of marriage or decades later, it’s undeniably heartbreaking to see relationships fall apart. Now, a renowned Bollywood divorce lawyer has shed light on why and how these divorces happen, and the revelations are quite an eye-opener.
In a recent podcast of The Chill Hour, celebrity divorce lawyer, Vandana Shah, talked about the top reasons behind these divorces and it’s not what most of us expected.
1. Boredom can cause more damage than you can imagine
She reveals that she does not think infidelity is the case in most divorces. She said, “Their (Bollywood) lives are very different. I don’t think infidelity is the cause of a lot of breakdowns in marriages. What is the cause of that marriage breakdown? One is boredom in a marriage because you have seen it all. They move on from one marriage to another because of boredom and that is very peculiar to Bollywood and super-rich families.”
2. Lack of sexual intimacy
This one is quite shocking and unexpected. She says that different sexual lives also affect the relationship. She adds, “Secondly, I think they live very different sexual lives which are not out there. The expectations from a sex life are much higher than maybe a normal person’s marriage.”
3. Family members can make or break a relationship
Vandana reveals another reason, She says, “Third, adultery happens and one-night stands really don’t matter as much. I’m not a part of Bollywood, I’m just saying from whatever cases have come to me. The main issues are boredom, not being given enough importance or having to listen to others who are not part of the marriage. Others can be the mother, the brother who is providing or the father-in-law.”
While Vandana shared these inputs basis her experience, it goes without saying that every relationship is different and even public figures deserve privacy during such sensitive times.
