Zoya Akhtar Finally Breaks Silence on Jee Le Zaraa & It’s Not What You Expected

In 2021, Farhan Akhtar created buzz with the announcement of Jee Le Zaraa, a women-led version of the iconic movies like Dil Chahta Hai and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. The excitement soared when he revealed the cast–Priyanka Chopra, Katrina Kaif, and Alia Bhatt. Ever since then, fans have been eagerly waiting for updates on the film. But Bollywood buffs were left heartbroken when rumours of the movie getting shelved started doing the rounds. Hold on guys, we have a khushkbari for you all!

What Has Happened So Far?

Earlier, reports of Priyanka and Katrina walking out of the project started circulating on the internet. Reportedly, both actresses were unable to commit their dates for the shoot in 2023 and asked Farhan to begin the shoot in 2024. While Farhan was okay with it, Alia already was committed to other films in 2024. After being unable to reach a decision, Kat and PC decided to walk out. Later, we got to know that Farhan have already found their replacement and had roped in Anushka Sharma and Kiara Advani for the titular roles. Then finally, everyone started speculating that the movie might never see the light of day.

Now, it turns out that’s not the case. In a recent interview, Zoya Akhtar, who has co-written the movie with Reema Kagti, addressed the rumours about the movie getting shelved and said, “We’re just waiting for the dates.” Although the writer-director didn’t clarify whether the film will be made with the original star cast, it was enough to give us all a ray of hope. 

Well, we are just praying that they sort it all out soon and give us the ultimate women-led film we all have been waiting for.
