Being fit and healthy is one thing and being comfortable in your skin another. Choosing what you want to do with your body is an individual’s choice. It shouldn’t be a matter of public opinion and body shaming must STOP, right now. Zareen Khan, a Bollywood actress, known for her films – Veer, Ready, Housefull 2, came out and posted a note on Facebook along with a picture about fat shaming. “It’s my life and my body. Only I have the right to decide what I’m gonna do with it”, said the actress in the post. Zareen has been in news for sharing her weight loss journey with all her fans and we totally agree with her.

Body shaming has now become a trend and we appreciate how people like Zareen and many others, are sharing their stories with the world. Every girl has been body shamed at least once in her lifetime and we might have taken it lightly but we shouldn’t have. We are happy when we are fat, we are happy when we decide to lose weight and we are happy if we gain that weight again… It’s our life, it’s our choice and body shamers must stay away from it.
Zareen Khan talked about her journey right from the time when she was in school and here’s what she posted…

“I came across these pics of mine from school and college days. The white one is from when I was in 9th standard & the pink one was right after 12th board exams…
“When I look at these pictures today, I feel proud of myself. Not that I felt any lesser about myself back then, but in spite of being so big I never let people’s comments or ideas about me bother me. It’s my life and my body. Only I have the right to decide what I’m gonna do with it…
“One day I decided that I should try to reduce some weight and hence I started my weight loss journey. It wasn’t easy at all… but every time I looked at myself in the mirror, I was pushed to do more. I had lots more energy than before and I was loving every bit of this new person I was transforming into…
“When I became a part of this industry, I had lost all my weight. In fact, I was asked to put on weight for my first film. Unfortunately, I was criticized to no end for my weight. Still, I never let that get to me. How could I? Those people had not seen me like the way I am in these pictures here. And for me, everything was just an achievement to reach from where I was to where I am…
“I continued my fitness journey irrespective of what people said, because, fitness for me, is a way of life now…
“Along with the weight loss, came lots of stretch marks, but instead of feeling ashamed of it and trying to hide it, I believe in flaunting them. It makes me feel like a tigress with her stripes…
“I have come a long way in this journey of fitness and I still have a long way to go… But it’s always been only for myself and not because of people shaming me!”
