Alia Bhatt welcomed her beautiful baby daughter Raha on November 6. She was one of the few actresses who kept it real when it came to her pregnancy journey, right from the start. Earlier, in several interviews, she unabashedly spoke about the hardships of carrying a baby, including feeling major exhaustion and constant nausea. And the Gangubai Kathiawadi actress had also opened up about how she managed work while being pregnant.
Once again, keeping it hella honest, Alia got candid on the pressures to look pretty instantly after having a child. Scroll down to read about the Alia’s candid take on life after a baby:
In a recent conversation with a leading daily, Alia didn’t shy away from speaking about the unrealistic exceptions to look “a certain way” after giving birth. Speaking about the same, she said “I really want to talk about this. A lot of women struggle with their new appearance post pregnancy. They tend to put a lot of pressure on themselves to get back to looking a certain way. Everyone wants to lose weight and I can relate to that.”
The actress further added, “I love food, I love to eat and I had to lose weight because films are a visual medium and you need to look healthy. You have to look appealing. In today’s age, with every picture appearing on social media, girls even before pregnancy are constantly worried about how they look. Women should take a moment to appreciate their bodies.”
But the most inspiring bit of the interview was when Alia dedicated a sweet message to all the new mothers like her, facing postpartum body. She said, “So many pieces have to come together and things need to go right for you to bring a baby into the world. I want you to appreciate your body for keeping you safe during that time. It’s not just about getting back in shape, but building your immunity, and then, everything will follow.”
Well, kudos to Alia for speaking about a topic that’s often brushed under the rug. Her words are a wonderful reminder to women to appreciate our bodies and be thankful.
