Now is not the right time to step out from your home to buy yourself a hair mask or a face scrub – you’ve got to make use of what you already have at home. Even if you’re completely out of beauty supplies, that’s okay too. Don’t let the coronavirus lockdown affect your beauty routine. You just need a few common household items to try these beauty hacks. At first, these tips may seem outright bizarre, but once you read everything we have to say below, you’ll be tempted to give them a try right away.
6 WTF Beauty Hacks To Try!
You will never look at these household items in the same light ever again!
1. Cooking Oil As A Hair Conditioner
Has your hair started to look dull and feel really rough lately? That’s probably because you’re damaging it with too much of commercial products like gel, serums and styling creams. Use the lockdown period to nurse your locks to good health. Post shampooing, use vegetable/olive/coconut cooking oil to condition your hair. Then, wrap your hair up with a warm damp towel and leave it that way for 10-15 minutes. Wash your hair with lukewarm water after. Once your hair dries, your hair will start to look shiny and feel silky smooth to touch.
2. Lemons To Remove Stains On The Nails
For the ladies who don’t have a bottle of acetone at home, but get their nails stained with turmeric and food colouring dye, they just need to open their vegetable tray in the fridge and pull out a lemon! Lemons have bleaching properties in them that help to remove stains and odour from cooking meat like a pro. All you have to do is take a lemon and cut it into half and rub it all over your nails. Leave the juice on for 15 minutes on the nails and rinse off later with cool water. Don’t forget to moisturise your hands after you do this!
3. Baking Soda As A Face And Body Scrub

If you have acne-prone and oily skin, then you’ve got to try this beauty hack! Baking soda when used as a face scrub, can act as an excellent exfoliator to remove dead skin cells and unclog pores loaded with sebum, dirt and bacteria. In a bowl, add 1 teaspoon of baking soda and 3 tablespoons of water. Stir well and make it into a thick paste and apply it to your skin. In a circular motion, use your fingertips to massage the paste all over your face. Rinse with cold water once done and apply moisturiser.
This works well for a body scrub too, just adjust the proportions and you’re all set to have soft and supple skin!
4. Fabric Softener As A Hair Spa Mask
Yep, you read that right. When boredom strikes you can try this weird beauty experiment at home! Instead of DIYs made from natural ingredients and commercial products, reach out to that fabric softener and pour some on your hair and leave it on for 20-30 minutes. Wash your locks with shampoo and skip the conditioner. You’ll be amazed at how silky and shiny your hair looks!
5. Cooking Spray To Set Nail Polish
Don’t you just hate waiting for your nail polish to dry? The world does too! While you can dip them in cold water or use a hairdryer to speed up the process, here’s another cool beauty hack – cooking spray! Spray it on your nails so that your manicure dries up quickly! And it moisturises your cuticles while speeding up your manicure time as well. It’s a win-win, this hack!
6. Coffee Powder As Eye Serum

So done with dark circles? Good! You don’t have to shell out a lot of money on eye serums when you can make one at home. To do this, you need to take a glass jar, add 1 tablespoon of coffee powder and 6 tablespoons of almond oil. Close the jar and leave it a cool and dry place for a week. After a while, strain the mix and add 1 tablespoon of castor oil it. Stir well and apply under your eyes once in the morning(if you’re at home) and once at night to brighten up the area.
Weren’t these the best?! Now that you have time to spare, why not give these a try?
