Everyone talks about what happens on the wedding day but no one ever talks about the night right before your wedding day. What goes inside a bride and groom’s head? Are they nervous? Are they happy? What if they get cold feet? We found this thread on Quora where people are sharing their experiences from the time when they got married! Read on and find out what they have to say.
1. ‘I was anxious, eager, happy as well as scared’ – Seems legit!
Varshnya Sethuraman answers on Quora: Mine was a typical South Indian Brahmin wedding. It went on and on and on for three whole days. I was anxious, eager, happy as well as scared. I had to gear up and mentally prepare myself to sit through all the rituals.
2. ‘I got a good night’s sleep which was what I wanted.’ – Indeed.
Hunter McCord answers on Quora: I remember it well since it was September 24th, 2010. After the rehearsal dinner which was that night, my best man and I drove 50 miles back to Denver, crashed at my house. We hung out talking about life! He got married in June of that year so I was asking him questions. I wasn’t super anxious to be honest since I thought a lot about marriage being away in Austin and proposing to Lindsay. I got a good night’s sleep which was what I wanted. I don’t know if I would change anything if I had to do it over. It was a great experience since it helped make for a very memorable wedding day.
3. ‘I got drunk’ – Haha, don’t know if that’s a good idea or not!
Mike Holovacs answers on Quora: I got drunk. I was not nervous, or anxious. Tequila has a way of making those things disappear.
4. ‘God, please just let me get some sleep!’ – Beauty sleep is THE most important!
Barbara Carleton answers on Quora: The night before my wedding I was a 21 year old virgin. My wedding was to be a moderately ‘big’ church wedding, in the planning stages for months. Earlier in the evening we had attended the rehearsal dinner, then my fiance and I had spent the rest of the evening going over last minute details. He had gone to his motel room for the night. The last thing I remember thinking was, ‘God, please just let me get some sleep!’ Seriously, if I had it to do over I would opt for elopement.
5. ‘Unsure if I was doing the right thing…’ – Hmm, cold feet.
Cyndi Perlman Fink answers on Quora: Scared. Nervous. Unsure if I was doing the right thing and wondering if I should just call the whole thing off and wait until all these feelings passed. Since we’d come in from the west coast, every night was an engagement party, right up until the night before the wedding. We’d had no time to think, to see each other, to talk, to just be together.
6. ‘Pretty chilled to be honest…’ – Now that’s really cool!
Scott Lowe answers on Quora: Pretty chilled to be honest. My wife and I had already been together for five years before we got married, so there wasn’t anything to be nervous about. It was a really calm experience for me, as we had done all the preparation and all we had to do now was rock up the next day and make sure we didn’t stuff it up.
7. ‘It was finally time to marry my best friend!’ – Aww! How sweet.
Lesley Foley answers on Quora: Excited! After over two years of planning, it was finally time to marry my best friend. I had to take some Tylenol PM to fall asleep.
