We’ve just stepped into 2021 and the past year has been trying, to say the least. It’s been filled with emotional roller coasters and we’ve all been doing the best we can. Even when it came to beauty trends, there were many that we’re happy to be leaving behind in the past year and moving onto better things. If you want to know what these are, keep on scrolling…
Beauty Trends We Aren’t Taking Into 2021 With Us
Heavy Contouring
Just like the end of KUWTK, it’s time to say goodbye to heavy contouring as well *sorry Kim K*. In 2021, it’s going to be all about using a soft, natural glam to accentuate the features and get a soft, chiselled face, rather than opting for harsh contouring and makeup.
High Maintenance Colour
While salons were closed after March 2020, those who started the year with a bleach-coloured hair had a hard time maintaining it during the lockdown. So, it’s safe to say that people are not going to make the same mistake again. This year, instead of these dramatic hair shades, people are opting for simple highlights and lowlights or balayage as they are low maintenance and grow out well unlike bleached hair with unwanted roots.
Goodbye to Heat Styling Tools
Since we were quarantined at home for the most part of 2020, many started embracing their natural hair and are continuing to do so even in 2021. The natural hair movement is stronger than ever, with people ditching their hair straighteners for non-toxic hair products that will enhance their curls and allow them to show off the coily tresses in all their glory.
Tattoo Brows
Tattoo brows were the easiest way to ensure that you always have your brows on fleek but in 2021 there will be a drop in laminated brows mainly due to the price tag. And with the pandemic still on-going, there are chances of salons being shut again. So, people are going to stick to the simple brow powder and spoolie to achieve those enviable brows.
No More Limited Foundation Shades
No longer do women need to use a brighter shade of foundation all because they can’t find one that’s suitable for their skin tone. Brands have already started producing foundations, primers, concealers in a variety of shades, and in 2021, we’re just going to see it expand further.
So, ready to welcome 2021 beauty trends with open arms?
