If you take a sneak peek into my makeup drawer, you’ll find boxes of beauty products. Some used, some unopened and some products that have passed their shelf life but kept because of sentimental value. This year, instead of buying new makeup products, I intend to repurpose the ones that I don’t use anymore. Here’s what I have in mind!
7 Genius Ways To Repurpose Makeup Products You Don’t Use Or Like
If you have lots of unused makeup products at home which you don’t like, here’s how to give them a new life!
Make Eyeshadow Into Paint
Whenever I buy a new eyeshadow palette, it’s rare for me to like all the colours in there. Whichever ones that I don’t like, I take out the eyeshadow pan, crush the product till it becomes a powder, and mix it with white fabric paint. Works like a charm all the time!
Translucent Powder Acts As Dry Shampoo

Whenever I’m out of dry shampoo, I use a translucent powder in its place. Just like it does for your skin, translucent powder absorbs oil from the roots and does not leave a visible white cast on the scalp. You should try it sometimes! It makes for a perfect emergency beauty hack.
Old Mascara Wand As A Brow Brush
Instead of buying disposable eyebrow brushes to groom my brows, I often save my old mascara wands to do the needful. To clean your old mascara wand, gently dip it into a glass of warm water. Squeeze out some baby shampoo into your palm and rub the old mascara wand in circles. This trick should help you get rid of product residue on the wand.
Makeup Brushes As Painting Brushes

Makeup brushes are expensive, and even if they have lost shape, you can give it a new purpose by turning it into a paintbrush. These can be used for painting nails, applying glitter or simply painting art on a canvas. Isn’t this such an awesome way to repurpose old makeup products?
Lipstick As Blush
Sometimes I buy lipstick only because of its bright shade. However, when I come home and try it on, I realise I made a terrible mistake. I can’t gift them to someone because I’ve already used them, so what I usually do is wear it as blush. The coral, purple and maroon lippie shades brighten up my skin in a jiffy!
Lip Balm As Cuticle Cream

If you have plenty of old lip balms at home, don’t toss them into the bin yet – apply it on cracked cuticles. Since most lip balms are infused with moisturising ingredients, it will treat and heal damaged cuticles.
Did I inspire you to repurpose makeup products? If yes, then I’m stoked! These tips will save you money and prevent product waste too. How amazing is that, right?
