If there is an easier way to recreate popular makeup trends, we are always here to take notes. Makeup hacks just make it easier for anyone who isn’t a professional makeup artist to get pro-level results with the least amount of skill or product portfolio. And that’s exactly how this viral smokey eye hack came into play as well. An Australian makeup artist and TikTok user shared how she used a lip liner to create an effortless, soft smokey eye look and we are shook!
All The Deets On The Viral Makeup Hack
Sabrina Walsh, an Australia based makeup artist, posted a video on the short video sharing app on how to create an easy, soft smokey eye look with a brown lip liner. She simply applied the brown lip liner on her lids and lower lash lines and then blended it with a fluffy brush. To finish the look, she dabbed on a shimmery bronzer to make her lids pop. The results were softly defined eyes that are too gorgeous to pass upon. The video tutorial instantly went viral and had influencers all over the world resorting to the hack.
The idea of swapping eyeshadow with a lip liner came with experimentation. She says that brown eyeliners are too pigmented and not as easy to blend on the lids as lip liners. While cream eyeshadows are perfect to create this smokey eye effect according to the pros, you can opt for this lip liner hack as well if you don’t own a cream eyeshadow.
How To Use The Viral Makeup Hack
Step 1: Clear Caution
Before you begin with this hack, it is important to make sure the lip liner is safe to be used on the eyes and is properly sanitized. Look for lip liners that are formulated with non-toxic, natural ingredients. If the lip liner is unused, you can use it directly on your lids, but if it is used on your lips before, then it is compulsory to sanitize it by sharpening the tip.
Step 2: Glide On
Now that you’ve got a non-toxic, sanitized lip liner you can begin by applying it to your lids. Glide the liner across your lids and beneath your lower lash lines. Now, take a fluffy eyeshadow blending brush and diffuse the line to create a smokey effect.
Step 3: Add Shine
In the spirit of using alternative makeup products to eyeshadows for this hack, you can use a shimmery bronzer to add shine to your lids. Just dab it on with your fingers over your lids and you’re done. If you don’t have a bronzer, a bronze eyeshadow will also work fine.
Step 4: Finishing Touches
Don’t forget to apply mascara to your lashes to seal the deal. Mascara will make the smokey eye look more prominent and professional.
We have to say this viral makeup hack has got us super excited!
