Caught On Camera: Boney Kapoor Touches Urvashi Rautela Inappropriately; Actress Slams Reports

The wedding of Akshay Gada, son of Hindi film producer and distributor Jayantilala Gada, saw many celebrities on the guest list yesterday. Amidst the camera flashes, a video of Urvashi Rautela and Boney Kapoor posing for the photographers was recorded and it went viral for all the wrong reasons.

In the video, producer Boney Kapoor can be seen inappropriately touching actress Urvashi Rautela. They were having a candid conversation and as Boney made his way inside the venue, he gave her a side hug and patted the actress on the backside.

It seemed that Urvashi felt uncomfortable (as can be told from her expressions) after the incident. But she kept her cool and carried on posing for the photographers.

The post is filled with thousands of comments from angry users calling out Boney Kapoor for the action. Some even tagged his daughter Janhvi Kapoor to bring this to her notice. Some called out Urvashi for letting this go. With the #MeToo movement bringing out past incidents of sexual harassment and sexual assault, especially in Bollywood, her fans are urging her to report the issue, which is caught on camera.

Urvashi did respond to the reports, but only to deny them. She reposted an article covered by a news media organisation and wrote, “Presumably one of the India’s ‘SUPREME’ newspaper and this is ‘NEWS!!??’ Please don’t talk about GIRL POWER or WOMEN’S LIBERATION when you don’t know how to RESPECT/HONOUR GIRLS.”

The website sensationalised the incident by adding a dialogue box of Urvashi telling ‘Don’t touch me’ to Boney. The actress condemned the ‘Indian SUPREME newspaper’ for the news, but it is actually a Pakistani website that has reported the news in an insensitive manner.

No matter what the anyone says, it is the actress’ choice to speak up or not. It is her story to share and she should be the one to make that decision. Meanwhile, Boney Kapoor hasn’t commented on this incident yet.
