It’s been a real long time since the physical fashion weeks took place, but the inspiration for the season ahead, read Autumn/Winter 2020, is available in big numbers. If you, like us, are optimistic about building your wardrobe for days ahead when venturing out is safe again, the trend Gods have in store all that will be fresh and just fine. Are you ready to take stock of what’s going to be new in fashion? We know we are!
Keeping Up With The Trends For AW ’20
Here’s taking a deep dive into the trends that will be raging in Autumn/Winter 2020.
The Colour Red
There is no denying the effect and impact of red, ubiquitous as it may be. The colour that makes up the vibrant end of the spectrum may have always been on your radar, but the coming season is going to make it all the more required. Need an additional nudge? The runways of Valentino, Bottega Veneta and the rest, along with Bollywood sightings in hordes, are all that you would require.
A Black Palette
The more said about the colour black, the merrier. Not that it would be the first time we are raving about the dark hue! There is no doubt that you will have the classic in your wardrobe already, but AW 2020 dictates upgrading with tailoring, high sheen and an introduction of other colours to the dark palette. Should you wish to take a walk down that road, start subtle but steady with a tried-and-tested classic button-down.
Menswear-Inspired Clothing
For those who love to borrow from the boys, the season includes a welcome menswear-inspired vision too—structured blazers, oversized shirts et al paired smartly for a fusion OOTD. From Armani to Vivienne Westwood, the catwalks provide inspiration aplenty but for gaining some of it closer to home, we suggest taking notes from Bollywood’s resident stylist Rhea Kapoor.
The Skirt Suit
Yes, the pantsuit is a workwear staple that will help you spruce up in no time but the AW 2020 trends are vouching for the skirt suit, one just like Priyanka Chopra’s, and we are more than willing to join. Go the conventional monochrome route or add to your back-to-work wardrobe a set that incorporates jacquard details, a play of silhouette or design elements of your choosing.
Oversized Coats
No time better than the peak winter season to cosy up with the winter woollies, which as per fashion enthusiasts, comprises oversized coats too. From shearlings and knits to fashion-forward trench coats, it’s a ‘go big or go home’ moment, even if all you do is drape it across your shoulders à la Deepika Padukone.
Balloon Sleeves
Ah, the bulging sleeves that have long been a favourite! Balloon sleeves may not be the new trend in town, but they are here and with an update. Bring out your ruffled and leg-o-mutton iterations or add to cart a blouson that doesn’t shy away from volume. We know we will!
Check Attires
Considering that the good old checks are going nowhere (perhaps never), we believe the AW 2020 trends and what they say about the pattern: it’s here to stay. This season, invest in a chic version, one that takes you about town and to a meeting with the same ease.
Figured out which of these are going to make their way into your closet?
