On July 24th, Theresa May, the former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom chose to step down from the position after she failed to deliver the British exit from the European Union. As the newly elected leader of the Tory party, Boris Johnson, the former foreign secretary has taken over the role of the new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. As soon as Boris took office on Wednesday, Twitter had an uproar and as a generation that heavily relies on humour to make our voices heard, we started meme-ing this Prime Minister. Boris Johnson, who is constantly being called USA’s President, Donald Trump’s British counterpart, is quite up there with his racist, insensitive comments and the haircut they both seem to share.
On the previous occasion, Boris referred to Africans as “piccaninnies” (a North American racial slur) with “watermelon smiles” and has called Muslim women wearing burqas – “bank robbers” and “letterboxes.” He has also made comments on homosexuality on various occasions, especially when he referred to gay men as “tank-topped bumboys” and called female Labor MPs “hot totties” (women regarded collectively as objects of sexual desire). Need I say more?
