It’s #TuesdayShoesday and we’re celebrating *drumroll* chunky sneakers! Big, chunky sneakers have been repeat-offenders on street stylers’ shopping bills this season and there’s no feeling guilty about this obsessive love. Because of their size and the colours used in these 90’s style shoes, they came to be known as dad sneakers (even ugly sneakers). Basically, the shoes that your dad used to wear in the 1990s have become everyone’s favourite now and are the coolest trend of the season. Now, do you get my extremely clever and talented pun in the headline?
Not just influencers, and Bollywood celebs like Sonam Kapoor Ahuja, Ananya Panday and Sonakshi Sinha, but International celebs like Hailey Beiber and Kylie Jenner too are crazy about their shoe daddies. And so are we!
6 POPxo-Approved Ways To Style Chunky Sneakers
Read on to find out how Team POPxo styles their chunky sneakers. Street-styling doesn’t get more effortless and easier than this!
With Mom Jeans
I like to combine the 90s trend of dad sneakers with yet another trend from the era – mom jeans. With a high waist, ankle-length hem and just the right amount of bagginess, mom jeans have everything! And they look super chic with tees, fitted tops and boxy crops alike. I don’t like to pair my chunky sneakers with skinnies because, well, it just feels wrong to me. Besides, mom jeans and chunky sneakers make for a flattering combo on all body types giving a naturally balancing look.
With Dresses
I never thought I would wear pink sneakers but this pair just had my heart! The Melissa matte finish PVC sneakers are my comfiest pair yet and I can pretty much style them with anything. On a recent trip to Dubai, I paired them with a cherry red dress and it was the perfect look for a sunny outdoor brunch with my nieces. I’m waiting for the summer to pair these with more dresses – floral, A-line, skater, I think it’ll go well!

With A Mini Skirt
I’ve wanted Fila’s Disruptors since forever. But the one I’ve had my eyes on wasn’t available in India. So, when I spotted them at a store in Las Vegas on my honeymoon, I immediately picked them up. PS: I got them from the kids’ section. I love this pair and literally wear them everywhere. Ever since I bought them, I refuse to wear anything else. In fact, I got the same in black too! In this picture, I am wearing my Disruptor II sneakers with a checked mini skirt and a loose white shirt. I think I can call this my go-to look for an easy-breezy vibe.

With A Maxi Skirt
My style always prioritizes comfort and these statement chunky sole shoes are my go-to for every look. I have teamed up a nice crop sweatshirt with a maxi pleated skirt. The overall look is very comfortable and chic. Being a shorty, the chunky sole really helps me gain some height without the pain of stilettos and that’s what I love about them.

With Denim Shorts
Chunky sneakers have been THE trend. It’s just impossible to not flaunt them. They literally look good with everything, but I personally love how they look with shorts. Being short, not only do they give an illusion of longer legs but it also makes for a super comfy yet stylish attire.

With A Romper
These white sneakers are my go-to pair of shoes as they go with anything and everything. I especially never travel without them. Here, I’ve paired these with a floral romper while on a vacation in the tropics. I would like to call my look comfy-glam which was exactly how I felt!
