What can we say, we love a good eyeliner hack. No makeup look is complete without eyeliner. And we also know that not all of us are great at applying it precisely (talk about trying to match both wings evenly). But all said and done, eyeliner trends are always on our radar because we just can’t live without them.
There are so many cool new ways to wear liner these days, even makeup noobs are able to pull it off without a sweat. Think half wing liner or the puppy eyeliner – both of which also complement hooded eyes and are fairly easy to create. Amongst such fuss-free liner trends popping up, we have another one in our midst that has blown our minds. Make way for the transparent eyeliner trend. Yup, the name sounds contradictory but it is such a stunning makeup trend that you’re instantly going to fall for its charm. Here’s why.
What Is The Transparent Eyeliner Trend?
Transparent eyeliner is the minimalist makeup trend we never knew we needed. The trend began when beauty creator May Akhtar posted a video creating transparent eyeliner using just concealer and some setting powder. She created an optical illusion using these products that resulted in the transparent eyeliner trend being born. The way it works is that the concealer is applied with an angled brush. But instead of applying it like regular eyeliner, you create triangles or shapes around your eyes with the concealer and blend it outwards so that the insides of these shapes is your natural skin tone. This creates that transparent eyeliner effect that won’t smudge or ever give you panda eyes. It is basically your natural skin tone that becomes the eyeliner as the concealer just accentuates it.
How To Rock Transparent Eyeliner?
There are a few ways you can try transparent eyeliner. So whether you’re a minimalist or a maximalist – you’re going to love this trend.
The OG Method
This video shows the birth of the viral makeup trend. Here, an optical illusion is created by drawing along the eye contours with concealer. First, she makes a line above the crease and blends it upwards. Then she curves on the outer and inner corners and draws a connecting line beneath the lower lash line along the crease. She blends the concealer outwards and then sets it with setting powder. After this, she applies foundation to the rest of her face and completes her base makeup.
The Fool-Proof Way
Here all you have to do is draw two straight lines, one extending from the upper lash line and the other from the lower, with your concealer. Connect these two lines at the tip and it will look like triangles. Blend the concealer outwards and set with powder.
The Contour Twist
Try a graphic transparent eyeliner style with a dark contour product. Apply the creamy contour pigment with an angled brush and create a graphic liner that goes over the crease and angles at the outer corners, connecting to the upper lash line. Blend outwards. Draw a line with the contour product along the crease. There you have it. So glam!
Go on and try the transparent eyeliner trend. We are sure you won’t be disappointed!
