Kaun tha? Tum thi? Main tha..try singing the viral Kokilaben mashup without having it creep into your mind. And then it refuses to leave till the end of your day. All thanks to Yashraj Mukhate, the engineer-turned-music producer. We are calling him the new ‘meme god’. And while we were having a hard time getting the song out of our head, we came across an absolutely new band that makes genius mashups. ‘Coz well, we live for mashups and we love them a little too much.
Recently, while scrolling through my Instagram explore section, I came across this super cool band, called 9teen, that sings mashups of the most popular 90s songs. Here are some of the most mashups that they have shared on their Instagram.
This one from Main Hoon Na featuring our eternal fave teacher is our new jam!
Our second favourite from the lot is this song from Krrish, which is also this band’s most loved song. Watch the video here:
And just like their mashups, the story behind how this band formed is equally interesting. So this band of boys was formed when three boys met at a college fest. And you know what, they were competing against each other when they realised that they’ll be better together. Thank god!
The band sings acoustic music on their YouTube channel and not 90s songs, they also sing the covers of famous ad jingles from the 90s. Our favourite is this one.
They even made a cover of all of the 90s Star Plus soaps. Ekta Kapoor must be really proud of them! And they are giving strong competition to Yashraj Mukhate. Looks like Yashraj really needs to make his game strong with some more Kokilaben mashups. Yashraj, are you listening?
The band also did a mashup on the theme song of Friends X Yeh Dosti Hum Nahi Todenge. Is there anything that these guys can’t do?
With their guitar and their voice, 9teen is spreading so much joy with these songs (including the title song of Shaktimaan). Well, you certainly cheered us up in this doom and gloom.
