My love for K-dramas started soon after I finished watching the first episode of Crash Landing On You last year. NGL, I binged watched all the 16 episodes of the show faster than their protagonists Ri Jeong-hyeok and Yoon Se-ri fell in love with each other. And ever since then, I have been hooked on Korean dramas!
Well, if you have not been living under the rock, you would know that Korean TV shows are all the rage on most of the OTT platforms RN. They give us larger-than-life periodic dramas and the classic ‘boy-meets-girl’ fantasies. They are the perfect binge-watch material that we can ever hope for and we’re ever grateful for K-dramas that exist in our lives. But do you think these are the only reasons that keep us glued to them? Nope, there are a lot more!
Why We’ll Never Get Tired Of Watching K-Dramas
From fast-paced storylines that don’t beat around the bush to really, really good-looking actors, here are all the reasons why we cannot let go of our obsession for K-dramas.
For The Love Of Fashion
Whether you’re looking for WFH outfits or chic options for a date night, you know you can get all the style inspo from your fave Korean shows. The actors are legit trendsetters! And, we’re in love with their amazing walk-in closets. Cannot stop dreaming about them!
Unpredictable Plots & Intriguing Storylines
Almost every Indian daily soap is so predictable and terribly repetitive that we know exactly what to expect in the next scene. And NGL, finding a new Hollywood series on any OTT platform that’s engaging from the word go is no easy task. But that’s really not the case with Korean dramas. Pick any show and it will have a gripping plot, dynamic genre, and a really fast-paced storyline.
Their Rom-Coms Are A Blessing For Our Romantic Hearts
Sure, these rom-coms can get a little predictable at times, but quirky antics and charming humour make up for that perfectly in almost every Korean show. Moreover, there’s nothing better than watching sizzling chemistry between angsty couples. We just can’t get enough of it!
Good Looks, Good Looks, & Good Looks!
If you also believe that Korean actors like Hyun Bin from Crash Landing On You and Ji Chang Wook from Melting Me Softly are chiselled to perfection, then gurlll, same! I don’t know about you but I def find a new crush every time I start watching a new Korean show.
Entertaining & Informative
When was the last time you watched something educational without getting bored? Well, believe it or not, K-dramas are quite informative. We get to learn a lot about their cultural and societal norms. And, the period dramas may not be factually accurate, but they surely give us an idea about Korean history like Joseon or Goryeo era. Sounds fascinating, right?
The Soundtrack
Before K-dramas became a worldwide obsession, K-Pop had already taken over the world. And when it comes to soundtracks used in Korean shows, the makers have simply nailed it! While we definitely do not understand the lyrics, the melody is enough to touch our hearts and make us fall in love all over again.
The Easy Format
One of the best things about K-dramas is that they have an audience-friendly format. It means that we do not have to sit through uncountable seasons because the shows generally go off-air after 15-16 episodes. Also, you can watch these shows with your partners as well as with your family because they are squeaky clean. Yep, interesting shows without the use of foul language and gruesome scenes still exist. Isn’t that something?
