11 Things It’s OKAY To Ignore While Planning Your Wedding!

Planning a wedding is not an easy task. There is just so much to do and nothing ever seems right. And if that wasn’t enough, you’ll also have to deal with tons of advice and opinions from your friends and relatives. So ladies, to make it easier for you, here are 11 things you should totally ignore while planning your wedding.

1. Splurging on food is a waste

Food is one of the most important element of a wedding. Your guests might forget your husband’s name but they would never forget how the food tasted at your wedding! Do not go overboard with your budget but do the best you can as far as the food spread is concerned. Also, when it comes to food, quality is always over quantity. A few but amazing dishes is just what you need.

2. Bridal lehenga should be bought during the sale season

While it is sensible to do your trousseau shopping during the sale period, there is a big chance that the bridal lehenga never goes on sale. The longer you wait to buy your lehenga, the more money you will end up spending on the last minute alterations. And the stress of not having your lehenga ready in time is sure to drive you crazy!

3. Shaadi planning results in tension between the families

Planning a wedding can be stressful. And there would be moments when your father disagrees with the boy’s family or your mother-in-law wants something done in a certain way. Everyone has their opinions and there would be minor clashes. But that’s okay! Just ignore the temporary tension because in the end it’ll all be good.

4. You only get married once so go all out!

Yes, getting married is an important milestone in one’s life. But that doesn’t mean that you go ahead and splurge more than required or more than you can afford. It’s extremely important to set a realistic budget for your wedding and stick to it as much as possible. Or else you’ll end up spending more than you intended to and regret later.

5. You need to lose weight before the wedding!

The one question that almost everyone asks a bride-to-be is regarding her diet plan and weight loss regime. What people don’t understand is that the number on the weighing scale is not as important as the overall fitness. So the next time someone asks you what you’re doing for weight loss, just nod and smile and instead work towards a healthier lifestyle.

6. Your besties are going to drive you mad!

Well, if you have more than one best friend, you are bound to experience some major drama! They will both want to be the center of attention and they will both want to take on equal responsibilities for your big day. They’ll have clashes and sometimes you will get dragged in between. But take our advice and just leave it to them. They’ll have it all sorted out before the big day.

7. Brides need to stay calm

Whenever someone tells you to stay calm during your planning phase, it is better to turn a deaf ear to them. While it is a great piece of advice, it’s easier said than done. As a bride-to-be, you have a lot going on and it’s not easy to maintain your calm and composure at all times.

8. Multiple advices are best ignored

From the colour of your lehenga to the colour of the flowers and the drapes, everyone feels the need to share their opinions and advice with you. But that only leads to a lot of confusion. We say, follow your heart and plan your wedding the way you and your fiancé have always wanted it to be.

9. Way too many superstitions

‘The colour of your mehendi defines how much your husband loves you’. Well, that’s just one of the many beliefs and superstitions that you might come across during your wedding. While you must respect your elders and their beliefs, if you’re not comfortable with something, do convey your feelings politely.

10. First night jokes

The most irritating of all! All the aunties and relatives would come together and start giving you tips for your first night or share stories of how their first night was. We say, stick around for a while and then excuse yourself from the gathering!

11. Avoid the drama

You cannot make everyone happy. And you need to accept this fact. Your friends and family may get upset with you for not taking their advice or doing something a certain way. And all you can do is just carry on without worrying about pleasing everyone.
