As much as I don’t want to, I remember those days when I used to sit glued to the television with my mother Monday to Friday at 8:30 PM! Yes, this is a guilty admission because I actually used to enjoy watching Kasautii Zindagii Kay when I was a child and I am ready to bet that most of you were in the same boat too. Admit it guys, it’s time. Sure we were kids but we were curious kids hooked by Ekta Kapoor’s mind-boggling cliffhangers. However, when I look back now, I feel like there was so much that happened that will definitely make me go WTF today. And with rumours of the show returning in 2018, it seems like the right time to list them out. So let’s get started!
1. Dressing for what? Seriously?
All these actors dressed like they were ready to rock a ramp. But who really dresses up like that at home, guys?
2. Babu ji is immortal
Sometimes, death is not an option especially when it comes to Ekta Kapoor serials which is why Babu ji from KZK lived for countless generations! The elderly dependency ratio would be off the charts if that started happening in real life!
3. If death comes, there is always resurrection
Remember how Komolika died and came back to life? And then Mr. Bajaj died and came back to life? And then Anurag dies and comes back to life? Chal kya raha hai, bhai?
4. And then his kid is her kid and we are just like WTF
So, Prem was Anurag and Prerna’s son raised by Mr. Bajaj and Sneha was raised by Anurag and… basically I have just messed things up because I am confused. Are you?
5. And the dramatic soundtrack and hair-flips, my God!
Dtsh! Dtsh! Dtsh! No, I have not lost my mind but remember how the camera will focus on every single character right after something scandalous happened? Too much drama, Jeez!
6. Age no bar
And even when the serial took a leap of 20 years, none of the characters aged one bit. In fact, some of them were travelling back in time and looking younger.
7. Big families are all inter-linked to each other
Mr. Bajaj and his kids were linked to the Basu family and vice versa. Any little event got them together like it’s some carnival. I mean it’s a task getting my nuclear family together on a weekend so how do these guys do it? Someone, please enlighten me?
And even though there were things like these that made me go WTF from episode to episode, I would still wait for the next day to see if Komolika’s tricks pitched the Basu and Bajaj family against each other. And maybe this serial comes back with a new twist and in a brand new millennial avatar, but we can just hope that it’s good. Good luck, Ekta Kapoor!
