It’s raining award shows in India and I am not complaining. After all, more award shows mean more red carpets. And more red carpets mean a lot of fashion looks—both good and bad. Honestly, I stan both. While the good outfits give us some style inspiration, the bad ones are a reminder of what garments do not translate well on high-profile events. On that note, how about we go through some of the best and worst looks from a recent awards night? I know you want to. Scroll down:
Smashed It Out Of The Court!
Alia Bhatt
Alia Bhatt has again proved that her glamm is unbeatable at the moment. Her custom Tony Ward Couture gown fits like a glove. The mermaid cut is giving me life and the bejewelled bodice is to die for! A huge shoutout to Rhea Kapoor for Alu’s edgy styling. The heart-shaped KAJ Fine Jewellery studs in black are giving what they are supposed to give and that ‘slick in the front, messy at the back bun’ is just so Alia. Score!
Janhvi Kapoor
Another great look and another custom gown from the night. I say it’s a slay! It is the delicious purple hue of Janhvi’s Gauri & Nainika gown that’s speaking to me. This is Princesscore at its finest and I love that the designers went for a voluminous gown and yet found a way to give Janhvi a fitted silhouette to show off her hourglass frame. The blingy choker is adding to the movie star glamm and I am so relieved that the actress wore her hair down for this one! In case you are taking beauty notes, layer up your nude lippie with a gloss this season just like Janhvi!
Hian Khan
Okay, Hina is beginning to freak me out. How can she be so good consistently? Is she even human? From the corded straps to the yellow accents, everything about this Eli Button gown is stunning. But what I love most is how it is working for Hina or rather how she is making it work! The danglers, the messy chignon, the plunging neckline—it’s just perfection. I would have picked up a different pair of heels though.
Alaya F
In 2020, I made some tall claims about how Alaya F is going to be the next big fashion star. Looks like she is going to prove me right after all. I mean look at her fit. It is fresh, it is fun, and so trademark Alaya! The Tyafun Kaba co-ord set has a futuristic appeal to it. This is how Gen Z fashion should look in the coming couple of years!
Rekha
Rekha and her katan silks will never not be a red carpet moment. I do admire this silver drape a little extra though. How beautiful!
Try Again Next Time?
Tejasswi Prakash
Unless ‘kill them with details’ was the brief, Teja and her stylist did not get it right! I mean what even is happening with this look? Can someone please realise that Tejasswi is a star and start dressing her accordingly? Please. Thanks. Bye!
Karan Kundrra
Kudos to Karan for taking one for the team and making Tejasswi look quite alright in comparison with that blasphemy of a suit that he is wearing! The cut is not right, the concept is copied, and he looks just so uncomfortable!
Tiger Shroff
Okay, don’t get me wrong here. I love pink on men. It’s Tiger’s pants that I have a problem with. Why are they so tight? How is the poor man supposed to sit? Also, sunglasses for a red carpet “night”. Seriously?
