PSA: Taylor Swift is afflicted with a case of mani-obsession. It’s manic. Really. The singer-songwriter recently added a galaxy-inspired manicure to her album roll-out (see: Midnights) — and it was decidedly on theme with the aesthetic. Not to add — she did it herself. Leave it to T. Swift to add ‘nail artist’ to her cartage of skills (top-awarded artist in the history of the AMAs is another). But that’s not where the mania ended.
T. Swift’s appearance at the AMAs didn’t just warrant an above-the-neck transformation and six back-to-back wins — the musician coordinated a billowing, beach-blonde crown of curls, reminiscent of her Speak Now era, with a bedazzled, gold-drenched manicure, and it was a moment fans will add to their Speak Now memorabilia. Taylor Swift’s Manicure Is As Bright As Daylight
Taylor’s do was volume-city. The musician’s bangs were swept away from the face in a 50s-like flip, and they boasted 70s-inspired volume with curls cascading past the back gloriously. While Taylor has played around with curls and waves in the past, she has assumed a rather experimental approach to beauty following the release of Midnights, and it’s a delight to witness. The red-lipped loyalist’s lids spoke of a bronze-ish radiance, and a few layers of mascara sent her flutter-ready lashes into overdrive.
Taylors super-skinny brows were brushed upward, and flushes of rose embellished the cheekbones softly. Notice how lit-up her skin looks. Dangling earrings concluded the aesthetic, and some piercings laddered up the ears glamorously.
But that’s not it. The singer-songwriter’s lacquers found themselves in a glitter-studded affair with Taylor’s ensemble and halo-like cascade of curls, and everything just fell in sync for a second. Lesa Peña-Wong, creator of the star-studded look, defined the manicure as a ‘mixture of gold and glitter’ (Taylor’s Version).
While Taylor’s choice of colour was bold, she offset the drama by opting for short, oval-shaped tips. Has she sported razor-sharp nails that often anyway? Not to our knowledge.
