Tamannaah Bhatia somehow manages to keep the internet abuzz. Be it her viral dance video, relationship status, or brand new photoshoot where she’s showing off her nearly flawless glass skin, we’re eating up everything she lays down.
So when she talked about the skincare tips she swears by and all that she does to keep her mane looking as good as it does, you best believe we took notes. If you’re struggling with damaged hair or just want to pamper your locks, read on!
Tamannaah’s DIY Hair Mask
In a video she shared on Instagram, the actress who we last saw in Lust Stories 2 disclosed that she gets the strangest reactions when she reveals her DIY to friends. “No we cannot do this, iske alawa kuch bhi kar sakte hai, yeh nahi kar sakte,” is what her friends often tell her when she recommends her tip. But, “It is an ayurvedic way of battling hair fall, hair thinning and prevents greying of the hair,” she reveals about her mix of Onion juice and coconut oil.
She mixes the two because “Onion juice is like water, it’s too thin,” and you need a stronger consistency to keep it in your hair. Tam also cautions against keeping this on for longer than 30 minutes since the juice which is cold by nature, also makes the body cooler. On a one-hour drive, Tamannah left her mask on for an hour which gave her a brain freeze! It also has a strong smell but she tolerates it for half an hour for the sake of her hair.
Asserting that it’s the simplest way to pamper yourself, Tamannaah mixes half a cup of onion juice with around 3 tablespoons of coconut oil. Since the mixture is still extremely watery, she recommends applying it all over your scalp with cotton pads and targeting areas where you have thin and scanty hair for targeted care.
Also, keep your eyes shut while applying as Onions can be spicy!
The Science Behind It
One of the main reasons Tamannaah loves this mix is because Onion juice is rich in sulfur. Sulfur promotes hair growth and enables the hair to grow thicker and stronger over time. Sulphur is also known to promote collagen production which helps keep the cells healthy.
Coconut Oil’s benefits are common knowledge at this point. It not only moisturises the hair and saves it from drying out, but is the easiest remedy for thicker and longer hair. The nutrients present in this help boost scalp health and remove sebum buildup, keeping the scalp in check.
A massage with the two ingredients will promote blood circulation and leave the scalp feeling relaxed and stress-free.
If you’re like Tamannaah’s friends and don’t want to experiment with this DIY, there are more than enough products that contain onion extracts that you can try out.
The MyGlamm Superfoods Onion & Moringa Hair Care Combo is perfect to get started with. It contains a hair oil to nourish your hair with, a shampoo to wash off the oil and a conditioner to finish off with.
