In August, content creator Anish Bhagat posted a story as a joke asking for a sugar daddy, and to his surprise, he received a reply from one who lived in Dubai. Anish decided to take a leap of faith and actually flew down to the UAE to meet his sugar daddy. Anish was treated with expensive gifts and lavish meals. It was a story that seemed to sparkle with extravagance and make dreams come true. However, as we know, experiences in the world of sugar dating can vary greatly.

I am a twenty-two-year-old Mumbai-based aspiring model who is frequently stressed by finances and the high cost of living. In 2019, I attended a lavish fashion event. Anyone’s heart would skip a beat with the sparkling lights and energetic atmosphere. I met a pleasant, well-dressed gentleman (let’s call him Rahul) who was a well-known businessman in his late forties. His charisma and elegance were difficult to ignore.
We struck up a conversation, and as the night wore on, Rahul offered to introduce me to his glamorous world. His proposal was straightforward: he wanted me to be his companion in exchange for lavish gifts beyond my wildest expectations. All I had to do was accompany him to high-end events and parties. While my experience was not similar to Anish Bhagat’s, the draw of Mumbai’s high-society milieu was irresistible. I agreed to become his sugar baby, and I was one for the next two months.
For the next two months, Rahul took me to exclusive parties in the city, where Mumbai’s most elite gathered. He spoiled me with designer bags, expensive jewellery, and meals at the most lavish restaurants. It didn’t take long for me to learn, though, that his life was not as spectacular as it appeared. People around him were frequently more concerned with showcasing their wealth than with true connections.
As time went on, the negative aspects of this world began to surface. While I was wearing the most expensive outfit and drinking the finest wine, I was not respected. I was treated like nothing but a trophy, a possession. At one party, Rahul’s wife (we’ll call her Priya) arrived unexpectedly. She was furious to find me by Rahul’s side, and, in a fit of anger, she slapped me in front of everyone, causing the most embarrassing scene. It was a humiliating and painful moment that left me shattered.
Finally, the facade of opulence and sophistication crumbled, revealing the ugly truth about the world I had entered. I realised that I had been used as a pawn in a complicated game among the elites. My dreams of a glamorous life in Mumbai had turned into nightmares. So I decided to back out of the situation. Luckily, Rahul did not create a scene and respected my decision to withdraw from my role as a sugar baby.
In the end, my experience was far from the dreamy scenario I had initially imagined. It served as a harsh lesson about the dangers of getting entangled in the lives of others, especially in a world where appearances can be deceiving. As I walked away from that painful chapter, I carried with me the scars of an adventure gone wrong, a reminder that not all that glitters is gold and that sometimes the pursuit of a lavish lifestyle can lead to unexpected and painful consequences that can cause you to lose yourself.
