Today is the lazy day! Nope, I did not make that up, 10th August is the official lazy day of the year and we’re here to celebrate it! Apart from playing Bruno Mars’s Lazy Song on full volume, there isn’t much you should be doing. Stay in bed, snooze out the world and relax, because we have a list of comedies you can enjoy in the comfort of your pyjamas.
1. Hasan Minhaj, Homecoming King
Undoubtedly the best comedy special I’ve ever seen. The reason? Hasan is so honest in his comedy. He talks about growing up with a desi protective father, an adorable sister and a doting mother. He does divulge into what 9/11 did to his family, being a Muslim in the states, a piece that makes you laugh with tears in your eyes. Overall, if you do have an hour and a half to make your day better, this is hands down the number one pick.

2. Hannah Gadsby, Nanette
As a comedian who usually uses self-depreciating humour, Hannah’s Nanette is a revelation of sorts. She talks about how she is done coming out to people as a gay member of the society and feeling guilty about it. An emotional watch, which will make you laugh at the same time. Nanette might be Hannah’s last show, so make sure you catch it on Netflix.

3. Trevor Noah, Afraid Of The Dark
The Daily Show star who got famous for his little piece on The East India Company taking over India, Trevor is a riot. His political satires and not-very-offensive. Accents he uses while performing will keep you entertained throughout the show, including the bit he does about India.

4. Iliza Shlesinger, Elder Millenial
An outstanding mimic, Iliza is the laugh-till-you-drop comedian who actually makes for some great date-night content! A millennial and a misfit, her stand-up is a brainless comedy you can watch after a long workday.
Where To Watch – Netflix
5. Biswa Kalyan Rath, Biswa Mast Aadmi
If you loved Pretentious Movie Reviews, this show takes Biswa to a whole other level. The comedian is at his peak with his tongue-in-cheek humour. And though it does have a slow slope in some parts of the show, he finally explains where his tagline ‘aye tatti tera naam kya hai’ came from!

6. Zakir Khan, Haq Se Single
A comedy about heartbreak and finding your chi, but in a desi AF way. Zakir Khan talks about his relationship, the ups and downs and the ultimate breakup. If you’re currently going through a heartbreak and need someone to hate their ex as much as you do, this show will warm your heart.

7. Kanan Gill, Keep It Real
Kanan Gill is one of the cutest comedians out there and this show is a fine example of his comic timing. If you haven’t had a chance to see him live yet, then this stand-up is a pretty close call.

8. Kenny Sebastian, Don’t Be That Guy
Girls love him for his chocolate boy looks, and I am no stranger to that charm. On a lonesome Saturday evening, this show is a great companion. Especially, when he smiles and sings!

9. Vir Das, Abroad Understanding
Shot partially in New York and partially in New Delhi, this stand-up is the best of both worlds. One of the finest comedies to catch on Netflix, this original is every desi person trying to understand abroad.
