SRK To Deepika Padukone, These Celebs Have Never Won A National Award For Acting

In the Indian film industry, there is no greater honour than winning a National Award. Recently, the 69th National Film Awards (NFA 23) got everyone’s attention on social. While many agreed with the list of winners, some weren’t pleased. But the truth is there are a number of great performers in Bollywood who are yet to win a National Award.

Shah Rukh Khan

Surprisingly, Shahrukh Khan has never won a National Film Award despite being in the film industry for three decades. He was nominated for Dil Se in 1996, Devdas in 2002, Swades in 2004, Chak De India in 2007 and My Name Is Khan in 2010. In an interview, SRK talked about not winning a National Award, “If I didn’t get it, I didn’t deserve it. I don’t think any of my performances so far deserve a National Award.”

Aamir Khan

Interestingly, Aamir is yet to receive a National Award for his acting. The Ghajini star has received the award for his films Lagaan (Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment-2001), Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak (Special Mention-1988), Madness in the Desert (Best Exploration/Adventure Film-2003) and Taare Zameen Par (Best Film on Family Welfare-2007).

Rani Mukerji

In March 2015, Rani won a National award for her contribution towards the cause of women’s safety and child trafficking for her film Mardaani. But the actress never received the award for her acting performance.

Deepika Padukone

Believe it or not, Deepika is yet to add the National Award to her list of honours. While her performance in films like Piku, Bajirao Mastani, Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela and more have been noteworthy, she hasn’t been honoured with any National Awards.

Ranveer Singh

Ranveer was nominated in the best actor category at the 69th National Film Awards (NFA 23) for ’83. However, the award was won by Allu Arjun for Pusha: The Rising. The actor has yet to win the award. 

As they say, there is always a next time! These phenomenal actors will surely get the honour of getting a National Award soon.
