With more than a hundred movies in his kitty, Shah Rukh Khan has given us some iconic Bollywood dialogues. But, my eternal favourite is from Om Shanti Om, “Agar end mein sab kuch theek na ho to woh the end nahi hain… Picture abhi baaki hai mere dost.” Isn’t that the reality of life? Everything does get better in the end, it has to. If it doesn’t, then it is not the end.
SRK has proved time and again with his movies that by the end, things become alright. Time will get tough and there will be several hardships, but ultimately, we will see the silver lining.
So, let us look back at all his amazing films that inspire us to successfully overcome all the obstacles in life and believe in our happy endings. You can binge-watch these wholesome movies this weekend and enter the upcoming Monday with a bang!
7 SRK Movies That Remind Us That There’s Calm After Every Storm
These movies are pure gold and they remind us that no matter how tough the situation gets, things do get better in the end.
Dear Zindagi
Dear Zindagi revolves around Kaira (Alia Bhatt) and her mental and emotional wellbeing. Jug (SRK), her therapist, helps her process her emotions better and channelise her anger in a healthier way. Even though her past was traumatic and she felt hopeless often, in the end, she’s able to heal with his help and get in a better place. The movie tells us that it’s okay to not be okay, seek help and take time to re-connect with ourselves.
Om Shanti Om
Om Shanti Om is quite dramatic and farfetched, but it is one of the first Bollywood movies that introduced us to the power of manifestation. The actor said in the film, “Kehte hain agar kisi cheez ko agar dil se chaho to saari kayanath tumhe usse milane ki koshish me lag jaati hai.” That’s more or less what the Law of Attraction tells us as well—if we truly desire something, the universe will make it happen for us.
SRK plays the role of a man who gets everything he ever desired (stardom, fame and love) in the end. He went through heaven and hell (quite literally) to get it, and ultimately, his ordeals paid off.
Main Hoon Na
Shah Rukh plays the role of Ram, an army officer who wants to get united with his estranged family. While they refuse to accept him, he doesn’t lose hope and try to win their hearts by always being there for them. Well, love ultimately prevails and by the end, he doesn’t just get his family back but also saves the country. Main Hoon Na is undoubtedly one of the most entertaining movies ever and it’s always a good time to binge-watch this one.
Veer Zaara
Veer Zaara is one of those movies that reminds us that it may take years, but things will fall in place one day FOSHO. SRK and Preity Zinta play the roles of star-crossed lovers who stay apart for decades. Despite all the odds, they meet again (thanks to Rani Mukerji and her meddling) and our faith in destiny is restored.
Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi
SRK plays the role of a man who wants to win his wife’s (Anushka Sharma) heart. He tries to befriend her and understand her better by changing his identity. But, his plan backfires because she falls in love with his alt ego without any idea about his reality. After several twists and turns, they find their way back to each other in the end and we’re reminded that sometimes, we gotta leave everything to the universe.
My Name Is Khan
My Name Is Khan tells us that things will not always go as we plan. We will experience pain and loss in life that no one can prepare us for. But, with time and love, we will be able to heal and move forward in life. SRK and Kajol’s amazing performance as parents who have lost their child will make your hearts ache. If you are looking for a wholesome tear-jerker movie, then you need to (re)watch this one STAT.
Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge
The very last scene of this Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge is proof that we all need to believe in our happy endings always. From crossing saat samundar to meet his love to winning the heart of her entire family, SRK aka Raj does everything. After several obstacles, Simran’s (Kajol) father melts and he blesses his daughter to live happily ever after. So yeah, while sometimes we need to leave things to the universe, other times we need to take control of our own story. But, in both cases, things do turn out for the best ultimately.
We hope these movies will pump you up this weekend and give you a major dose of optimism! Also, thank you SRK for reminding us to have patience, as things will shape up for the best in the end.
