Sonam Kapoor, or should we say, ‘Sonam K Ahuja’, just got married to Anand Ahuja on 8th May and the whole wedding looked like a three-day long blockbuster movie. Can we just say – these past 3-4 days have been big not just for the Kapoor family but for all of us.
Wearing a heavy-ass bridal lehenga is work enough, maybe for a normal bride, but Sonam Kapoor is no ordinary lady. She worked four times as much on her wedding day. How, you ask? The 34-year-old actress changed her outfit four times for two functions and here we are, cribbing about removing makeup before going to bed. Here’s how she did it while getting married.
Look 1: The Wedding Bride In Her Laal Lehenga
“Wow” was everyone’s reaction when Sonam’s first look as a bride came out. TBH, we were expecting to see her in neutral pastel shades but the traditional bright red lehenga was a happy surprise. She’s looking like a proper Punjabi bride in that gorgeous selection of jewellery. Did anyone say #BrideGoals? We did!
As surprised as we were to see her in an Anuradha Vakil couture for the D-Day and not the industry favourites like Sabyasachi or AJSK, Sonam sure spent helluva money on her gorgeous shaadi wala lehenga only to change out of it three hours later.
Look 2: The Post Pheras Pink Lehenga
Right after her pheras, Sonam changed into what looks like a much lighter lehenga by Anamika Khanna. And there she was, meeting our expectations in a pastel pink and green number. Almost all of her jewellery was gone and replaced with drop earrings and the bridal chooda.
Dear bride-to-be, here’s a stylish and comfy lesson for you. Don’t torture yourself in that 30+ kg lehenga on your wedding, just carry an extra designer outfit. Good for the glam, good for the gram!
Look 3: The Reception Inception Lehenga
Then came the second much-awaited look of Sonam at the reception party. Some of us were expecting her to show up in a classy gown going with the theme. But seeing her in yet another (read third) lehenga for the day felt nice. She opted for an Anamika Khanna creation again but with a touch of contemporary, this time. Notice the sheer cape over the skirt and choli, ladies!
She gave the bun a break with poker straight hair and matched her necklaces to her outfit giving her ears some rest. Just the kind of night party look we want at weddings. Now you know how to do it.
Look 4: The ‘Abhi Toh Party Shuru Hui Hai’ Kaftan
This one came as a shocker when we spotted her in one of the dance videos from the reception. She changed for the fourth time in an easy-breezy chikankari kaftan dress by Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla. She decided to carry forward her jewellery and clutch from the previous look, though, adding the right amount of glam to the otherwise simple outfit.
Here’s an idea for the next cocktail party you attend. Ditch your LBD, maybe?
