So, Hot Girls Have IBS? 5 Supplements That Will Help Your Tummy & Skin

Hot girls have clear skin, hot girls wear sunscreen….no man, here’s a hot take: hot girls have IBS. If you’re unfamiliar with the term, IBS refers to one of the worst possible ailments a girl in her 20s can deal with. It’s (often, not always) not serious enough to garner sympathy, but it’s not painless enough to forget about or dismiss.

Irritable bowel syndrome is one of the most underestimated gut issues you can have, and I speak from personal, painful experience. While its main job is to make your stomach hurt to a point where its unbearable, IBS is also the sneaky culprit behind those sudden skin tantrums.

A bad gut can cause inflammation, which manifests as acne, dullness and even eczema but a happy gut leads to happy, clear, radiant skin. This is why I’ve curated a varied list of supplements that will probably not heal you forever (go to a doctor, girl) but will at least bring down the abundance of stomach aches life throws your way.

5 Supplements To Help You Figure Your Gut Out

I’ve been looking for a way to talk about this supplement for the better part of a month now. The Cosmix My Happy Gut is a tried and tested favourite, and I’m saying this because I’m on my third bottle. While the supplement won’t eliminate your stomach aches completely, trust me when I say that this drink is what keeps me alive after a hard night of irresponsible drinking. It tastes pretty disgusting, but that’s how you know it works.

While I haven’t tried this supplement myself, Wellbeing Nutrition is something we’ve all seen on the first shelf of a chemist’s chocolate collection – while the brand is better known for their melts, they also have a rather comprehensive range of gut supplements for men and women. The Wellbeing Nutrition Slow Gut Health is said to have Vegan Omega-3 from Algal Oil and a slow-release prebiotic + probiotic blend which helps with gut health and immunity issues.

The third on the list is a family favourite, something your dadu might take every day or whose bottles now house a myriad of spices. The Himalayan Organics Probiotics is a stress-free, easy choice to make whenever it comes to any supplements and their probiotic tablets are a pretty good, budget-friendly option for those of you who don’t really want to experiment or complicate this whole supplement-taking process.

Next up we have another all-organic, overall gut health supplement – the earthful Gut Health Supplement which is formulated with a list of ingredients you use in your daily cooking like: fennel, cumin, ginger, ajwain and more. They also promise that each of their supplements are purely natural, non-GMO products that have no preservatives or additives. Worth a try, IMO.

Last on the list, going to the doctor. Listen, my stomach used to hurt all the time, 24/7. Anything could trigger it: dal, dahi, baingan and I was always restricting what I could eat without really knowing what I couldn’t eat.

The most important step to fixing your gut health is going to a trained professional and getting diagnosed. Yes, I know going to the doctor is a waste of time because one procedure leads to another, and it’s a never-ending circle. I also know it’s hard to get a weekday off from work, and going for a check-up can be ridiculously expensive – but trust me, your gut will thank you in the long run.

Just imagine, no more stomach pain. Ever. Isn’t that something to strive for?
